Function: Information Technology

Title: Information Security Engineer - 72214

This position may be located in Moline, IL OR Ames, IA per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

As a Security Engineer with the Platform Engineering team in the Cyber Security Defense Center (CSDC), you will enable the critical security functions of protection, detection, and response at John Deere.

You will work closely with the teams that manage incident response and threats to ensure that they are able to effectively detect and respond to security incidents. This includes the foundational services to enable effective collection, management, and correlation of log sources. You will enable the tools to protect, detect, and automate response to security threats including Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), Security Incident and Event Monitoring (SIEM), and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) solutions, and future growth for new and innovative solutions.

To accomplish this, you will;

  • Apply systems engineering skills to lead development and delivery of solutions that meet quality, security, delivery and cost standards

  • Innovate and automate new technologies to ensure stability and quality in all systems

  • Partner with key strategic suppliers to support the security software technology stack

  • Continuously learn and educate others about effective use of these tools, platforms, and technologies

  • Enable the use of data and analytics solutions to drive results in security detection and response

What Skills You Need

  • 5 or more years delivering complex IT solutions

  • 2 or more years of experience leveraging Agile practices

  • Ability to collaborate across teams

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt

  • Ability to teach and coach technical concepts

  • Experience working globally

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with multiple programming languages or platforms

  • Full stack understanding of typical application architecture (application and underlying infrastructure)

  • Experience with cloud

  • Cybersecurity experience

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology discipline or equivalent experience
