Cargill Customer Service Technician in Montgomery, Alabama

This Full-time position is in Montgomery, AL, however please expect receiving calls from a 952 area code in case you are considered. Relocation assistance is not provided.

This is a 2nd shift position

At Cargill Feed & Nutrition we provide customized animal nutrition solutions to customers across the Americas, Europe and Asia. This position is responsible for the receiving and shipping of animal feed.

Responsibilities include:


  • 100% Compliance of all Cargill safety procedures, guidelines, policies and work rules.

  • Actively participate in peer-to-peer coaching, counseling, and feedback.

  • Demonstrate safety leadership by acting and advising (greater than or equal to level 4 on the Cargill freedom scale).

  • No reported accidents and 2 near misses filled out monthly completely and preventive action noted.

  • 2 Safe Track observations filled out and discussed monthly with shift.

  • Follow Cargill forklift safe driving policies.

  • Follow Cargill lock-out tag-out procedures.

  • Follow Cargill fall protection procedures.

  • All forklifts need to be turned off including lights at the end of the day. Ensure wrapper is turned off.


  • Per dock schedule.

  • Loading standard is 11 tons per hour per person. (This includes setting up the trailer (wheel chocks and jack stands), properly cleaning trailer out, removing returned feed to necessary spot (warehouse, rework, compost), hand-stacking feed, and loading feed from the warehouse). This does not include feed loaded off the packing lines!!!

  • Receiving standard is 22 tons per hour per person. For all Drugs/Vitamins, ensure all items are accounted for and documented on the receiving ticket. Rotating stock on First Expired First Out basis, placing overflow signs on appropriate feed, and filling out all required receiving documents.

  • Operation of “Yard Dog” switch-truck to safely rotate trailers on and off the dock spaces in a timely manner (10 minutes per trailer moved for all certified employees).

  • Ability to perform process technician job standards with necessary training.

  • High performer with the ability and passion to learn more than taught.

  • Individual development plan established and agreed upon with direct supervisor.


  • Report all maintenance issues to maintenance team and shift supervisor on same day of discovery.

  • Complete/document daily forklift pre-use inspection (Lube, fuel, and general condition) before each shift and immediately report any defects to shift supervisor prior to use.

  • Forklift is cleaned at the end of each shift and pressure washed on a monthly basis.


  • Must rate at or above 90% on all audits.

  • Blow down conducted per blow down schedule.

  • Work area kept neat and free of hazards.

  • Must sweep warehouses/dock daily.

  • Pick up all big pieces of debris before running sweeper.

  • Remove shrink wrap from picked pallets.

  • Remove all broken bags and place in proper location (rework/compost) and fill out on back of P.I.S. to ensure inventory is up to date. This may consist of down-stacking to reach appropriate layer.

  • Consolidate feed in proper hole and have only one partial stack per hole.

  • Propane tanks filled and stored in designated areas and ready for oncoming shift. (Filling and storage should take no more than 30 minutes per person).

  • Pick up debris on grounds around dock (Should be done on a rotating weekly schedule).

  • Clean up any animal droppings that are found in the warehouse.

  • Place boards between pallets that are being stacked, no matter how long the feed is to stay in the warehouse.

  • Maintain the 18” perimeter between wall and feed.


  • Customer service oriented

  • Any error, paperwork or customer complaint, will result in a written coaching.

  • Excessive errors will be handled on a case by case basis.

  • Brings bag shortages to supervisor’s attention immediately.

  • All bags clean and not broken when loaded on the truck. & (NO TAPE)!

  • All 10 character lot codes documented on TLOs.

  • Rotate all stock based on First Expired First Out basis.

  • Overall flow signs in place and feed is being rotated per First Expired First Out basis

  • All customer labeling requirements followed.

  • No damaged bags will not be loaded on a trailer.

  • Responsible for blowing off bags and pallets when dust or debris is present.

  • Follow warehouse plan and place products in correct spaces.

  • Check slow moving products for when they go out of date to help manage the max quantity of a run.


  • P.I.S. sheets filled out accurately with no missing information to comply with FDA and Cargill requirements. P.I.S. sheets are completed and reviewed daily with employee and supervisor at the end of shift.

  • Initials each item on TLO as it is loaded and or staged.

  • Lot code and quantity recorded on each item loaded.

  • Dock report accurate and filled out completely.

  • 100% Savigent completion on every load.

  • All TLO’s, Feed Return Slips, Receiving documents, and P.I.S. sheets completed reviewed with supervisor and turned in at the completion of each shift.


  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility.

  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English(verbal/written)

  • Basic use of a computer

  • Ability to work overtime includingweekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice


  • Able to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)

  • Forklift certified

  • High School diploma or Equivalent

  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word

  • Working knowledge of inventory systems

  • Prior experience in production related work
