The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As the Engineering Project Team Leader within the Parts Lifecycle Solutions team, you will leverage your knowledge of engineering systems and practices to act as a liaison between the Parts Lifecycle Solutions team and engineering teams across the company. You will also perform Parts & Service Consulting functions with Product and Component Commercial and Procurement teams to ensure that every service part is introduced, managed and discontinued appropriately to maximize customer satisfaction while providing profitable growth for Caterpillar.

  • This position is currently a hybrid in - office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our Morton, IL office and remote work for the remaining days. However, work arrangements may be adjusted based on business needs.

What You Will Do:

  • Own key process and tools that determine what parts to make serviceable and when to discontinue (stop servicing) active service parts. These processes and tools include:

  • Service Offering Strategy (SOS) Process including working with Product and Component teams across the company to identify new Service Offering Strategy needs, overseeing the Service Parts Eligibility Check (SPEC) SOS quality gate and validation of logic to implement Service Offering Strategy documents into SPEC.

  • Service Life Policy Process that discontinues service parts from serviceability based on a defined set of criteria. This includes monitoring the performance of the process and initiating continuous process improvement projects.

  • A variety of dashboards and tools that are leveraged by Lifecycle Mangers, Design Control Owners, Buyers and others to perform key job tasks in a more efficient manner.

  • Establish metrics to monitor and review the effectiveness of existing processes, suggesting necessary interventions for improvement.

  • In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to become a trusted Subject Matter Expert (SME) on these processes and tools and provide necessary training and information to teams and individuals throughout the company to ensure understanding and adherence.

  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

  • Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

  • Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Previous experience in Logistics, Engineering, Product Service, or Supply Chain functional roles.

  • Previous experience using engineering systems and reading prints and bills-of-material.

  • Proven ability to lead change across multiple divisions/verticals.

  • Previous experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Previous experience in either or both component and prime product groups.

  • Previous knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups.

  • Previous experience presenting to both Executive and Senior-level Executives within an organization.

  • Proven knowledge of service strategies.

  • Previous experience in coding or building logic.

  • Previous experience with Aftermarket distribution and supply chain.

  • Previous experience in NPI and CPI processes.

  • Understanding of service parts authorization and disposition processes, including inventory control.

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
