Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As the Technology Project Team Leader (Distribution Automation), you will assist with managing multiple or complex engineering projects involving multiple functions, organizations, products, or value chains.

What You Will Do:

  • Assists with developing project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.

  • Coordinating resources across operations, purchasing, engineering, IT, and vendors.

  • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.

  • Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

  • Advise others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions.

  • Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.

  • Coaches’ others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing super technical solutions to business problems.

  • Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

  • Business Markets: Knowledge of existing and planned markets and market-related initiatives from the perspectives of the competition, the suppliers, the customer base, and the regulatory environment; ability to apply market knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Develops objectives and strategies for a major market segment.

  • Analyzes market segments and niches within a major market.

  • Evaluates market data sources and key indicators.

  • Influencing through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.

  • Provides relevant, timely and objective subject matter/process expertise and key insight regarding multiple client business areas and affiliated fields.

  • Provides others with information, opportunities, or resources to develop their skills in the area of expertise.

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

  • Champions organization’s project management methodology, tools, and techniques.

  • Manages multiple high-risk, high-impact projects involving multiple stakeholders.

  • Monitors major projects for critical path and actual status versus planned.

  • Consults on project planning and management of high-risk, high-impact projects.

  • Requirement Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques or requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze, and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

  • Plays an active leading role in recording and strong requirement documents in various forms.

  • Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks, and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.

  • Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation. Utilizes automated diagramming tools to ensure traceability of requirements.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field

  • Project Management Certification (PMP).

  • Previous experience with manufacturing or logistics automation applications.

  • Prior experience with warehouse technology design and implementation.
