Commodity Analyst II
As a Commodity AnalystII, you will work directly with Suppliers, Category Teams, Buyers, SeniorBusiness Resources Managers and the Treasury Risk Management Team to mitigatenon-steel commodity price risk. This position plays a key role in improvingCaterpillar's Operating Profit After Capital Charge (OPACC) by locking involatile non-steel commodity prices and layering in coverage to provideassurance of supply and price certainty. This analyst maintains abalanced base metal portfolio by utilizing physical commodity agreements withsuppliers. Commodities that this position works with primarily includeAluminum, Copper, Lead, and Nickel. This analyst is the subject matterexpert on these commodities and provides base metal price guidance and executesactions to mitigate price risk. This position performs complex analyticaltasks, often of a confidential nature in support of category management and/orsite management.
Job Roles and Responsibilities:
This role is responsible and accountable for the analysis, maintenance and interpretation of purchasing and usage data including but not limited to: quotations, invoices, consumption, transaction confirmations, commodity forecast, Power of Attorney documents, Supplier Commodity Agreements, supplier data and measurements.
This role has responsibility for implementation of local or regional commodity strategy, under the direction of his/her Manager.
Responsible to provide support as assigned to execute processes and/or deliver project assignments.
Collects and analyzes macroeconomic market data, technical indicators, and fundamentals. Provides analysis and recommendations needed to increase accuracy and execution velocity to be successful in implementing projects on time, within cost, and meeting targets.
Creates reports for team to efficiently communicate accurate project and/or operational performance level information.
Participates in and leads team meetings and is prepared to provide information to ensure meetings are timely, efficient, and follow agenda. Works with leader to ensure outcomes are consistent with goals.
Ensures compliance with electronic contract database (Ariba)
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
1 to 2 years of previous work experience in purchasing, finance, economics or accounting.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
Demonstrated project management skills and experience with successful projects is desired.
