Caterpillar Inc. seeks Control Systems Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523.

Develop model-based software and implement sub-systems using MATLAB/Simulink tool set. Develop electromechanical control systems using quantitative methods to solve problems for Caterpillar’s internal and external customers through integrating mechanical and electronic components and systems through control algorithm implementation and optimization using data from sensors, on-board models and product analytics. Assist in the concept and design of complex engineering products and process projects for release to production ensuring products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. Conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis and create boundary diagrams and interface specifications. Perform needs analysis and initiate ideas and design and promote new control systems and sub processes. Perform network analysis and analyze engineering data from engines/machines. Perform integration lab testing and product maintenance. Work directly with MATLAB /Simulink, co-simulation, neural networks, adaptive control and self-learning machines. Work cross functionally to communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other engineering units. Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers. Travel Requirements: Less than 10% Domestic. Telecommuting: 2 days/week.

REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field, plus 3 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, or related occupation. In the alternative employer will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field, plus 2 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Performing software development from stems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification; (2) Troubleshooting and software integration; (3) Collaborating with cross functional teams to review technical and functional requirements; (4) Performing functional specification authoring, and control systems development testing and delivery using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow; (5) CANape CANalyzer, GIT/Ivy, software engineering tools and technologies: Hardware in the Loop (HIL), Simulation and Validation; and (6) Datalinks (CAN/J1939/Ethernet).
