About EC&S:
Caterpillar’s Engine Components and Systems group, within LPSD, is focused on creating integrated engine systems to enable Caterpillar product to provide industry leading performance, value, and durability with a differentiated product that will make our customers successful. The EC&S team is responsible for design and development of engine air and exhaust systems, turbocharger systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, crankcase ventilation systems, all small lines, as well as all covers and guards.
We are seeking a Design Engineer to be responsible for the leadership and delivery of the cooling system on the C175 engine platform. This will include design, layout and validation of the C175 cooling system – including all the castings, piping, couplings, clamping and supporting. This also includes thermostatic valves, customer connections, and system performance. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a highly experienced team of engineers having significant experience across Caterpillar engine systems.
What you will do : * *
• Work with the L4 and L5 teams to establish system requirements. Develop and implement cooling system design to support NPI & NTI programs.
• Collaborate with other L3 and L2 engineering teams to provide a fully integrated cooling system design to meet program requirements.
• Resolve design and quality problems by applying sound engineering judgement, advanced analysis techniques, and testing.
• Develop capable suppliers that can meet stringent drawing and specification requirements, while providing a cost-effective product. Ensure a robust sourcing strategy to meet growing production demand. Some limited travel will be required.
• Work seamlessly with operations to ensure the product is produced as intended to meet customer expectations and the voice of the business.
• Lead other engineers within the Caterpillar global EC&S team for design and the release of prints for production.
• Reduce product cost through design refinement, supplier collaboration, and sourcing strategy.
• Identify and work with other Caterpillar SMEs to ensure a comprehensive design which meets mechanical, thermal, life and performance requirements.
• Stay up to date with the latest advances in casting, metal fabrication, heat transfer, pump, and related systems technologies.
• Prepare and support execution of test plans to verify designs with simulation and to validate system designs in the lab and on prime product.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Agricultural, or Civil Engineering or similar OR appropriate experience in the field.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Extensive Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
Product Design - MFG: Extensive Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
Product Design and Development: Working Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Top Candidates will also have:
Masters degree in Engineering or similar field
Experience in heavy duty gas or diesel engine design
Experience in casting design

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
