Primary job responsibilities may include applications of power system simulations to influence early product concepts and design decisions, to improve the existing products by resolving performance issues and to develop or improve simulation related processes and technologies.
What You Will Do:
The candidate integrates controls and plant models of components and subsystems into a power system model and executes performance studies (the power system may include subsystems like genset, motor, power converter, utility grid, energy storage, PV, wind turbine etc.) using Matlab/Simscape/Simulink. The candidate will be involved in power system concept performance simulation to influence early product concepts and control software design decisions, to improve the existing products by resolving performance issues and to develop or improve simulation related processes and technologies. The candidate will analyze the results and assess system performance and reliability.
The candidate should have the capability to assess and suggest improvements for power system architecture design, including hardware selection, control algorithms development and optimization. Furthermore, the analysis results will be validated with measured data from actual test. Model in the Loop (MIL) and Software in the Loop (SIL) methods are commonly used for daily work. Interfacing to software libraries in Git is required. An effective candidate is also capable to develop scripts in Matlab or Python to automate common tasks.
Other areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all the following: perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; evaluate new controls, processes or systems; communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units; contribute to the design of new products and processes; support other candidates, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers.
