The Opportunity

At Caterpillar, the Global Facilities Office Services organization is dedicated to delivering a superior employee experience, with a top priority of ensuring the safety of Caterpillar employees, physical locations, and assets. We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Facilities Project Engineer . In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our offices and buildings are well-maintained and safe for all occupants. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders and HR to align facility management strategies with organizational goals and employee needs. This role also involves integrating advanced technologies – audio visual solutions, managing vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing space utilization, and enhancing employee well-being through various programs and maintenance strategies.

Role Definition: Provides office maintenance, installation, and consulting support for building and infrastructure requirements for the Mossville AC, DD, H Campus – Office and Audio-Visual Support for Mossville Tech Center.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing office services and the installation and maintenance of workstations, conference rooms, labs, storage space and outdoor CAT equipment testing.

  • Communicating with suppliers' technical support to address equipment or infrastructure disruptions.

  • Performing routine-to-complex engineering work potentially on multiple or large facilities.

  • Manages planning, execution and control of small to medium scope facilities projects.

  • Provides products and services to clients’ requirements.

  • Business Reviews: Quarterly + Annual Business / Capital Funding Alignment, manage budgets and financial resources to ensure cost-effectiveness.

  • Safety Champion: Contractor Safety (Avetta) / Environmental Metrics

Degree Requirement :

Engineering or Facilities / Operations Management Degree , or equivalent experience desired

  • Evaluates placement results of staff and equipment according to space planning and requirements.

  • Coaches others on how to coordinate and maintain the flow of electricity within a physical space.

  • Monitors environmental, safety and equipment requirements and conditions.

  • Monitors and updates processes and procedures to develop and maintain security in the workplace.

  • Interacts with customers and vendor support staff to resolve complicated problems.

  • Participates in coordinating the design and construction of new or enhanced facilities.

  • Ability to maintain and direct 3rd Party providers to a high level of excellence

  • Audio-Visual / IT Support

  • Work with GF Operations support personnel, security, cafeteria, janitorial providers, etc… as required.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects.

  • Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.

  • Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients.

  • Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties.

  • Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.

  • Assist in all aspects of customer needs = office, Labs, storage, logistics and building projects as needed

Emergency Management: Knowledge of emergency management tools and techniques in a manufacturing organization; ability to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from an emergency.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Simulates and tests plant-wide emergencies, facility evacuation and shut-down procedures.

  • Plans for and deals with different types of emergencies.

  • Participates in vulnerability assessments or worksite analyses.

  • Negotiates agreements for stand-by or back-up production facilities; coordinates during emergency.

  • Maintains emergency communication network and equipment and role of a communications center.

  • Trains others on procedures for accounting for employees after emergency evacuation.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.

  • Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.

  • Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.

  • Coaches others how to resolve integration or communications problems in multi-vendor environment.

  • Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.

  • Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Administer Enterprise Policies, Procedures, and Compliance

  • Strong project management experience including communication and change management

  • Effective ability to understand business needs and mange stakeholders

  • Strong, proven interpersonal skills and ability to earn trust and credibility

  • Proven experience of working with people from different backgrounds and cultures, and the ability to influence and resolve differences and issues.

  • Exceptional ability to ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in an office / manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in English

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) including the ability to partner and build relationships

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
