Job Summary:

Sensor design control engineers at Caterpillar specify, develop, validate and support sensors on every machine and engine in production. Work categories include new product introduction, continuous improvement, cost reduction, and product line management and strategy. In this work, you’ll work closely with electronic system teams developing features to improve machine and engine efficiency and productivity. You’ll also collaborate with suppliers to develop components providing value to Cat and our end customers with excellent durability and reliability.

What You Will Do:

  • Follow Cat’s component development processes to create and validate new sensors.

  • Partner with Cat’s electronic system teams to specify and test Cat’s future machines and engine electronic systems and software.

  • Be the technical lead engineer and subject matter expert for a sensor product line. This often involves running several development projects simultaneously, delivering timely results, meeting technical requirements, and staying on budget.

  • Partner with suppliers to develop and execute proposals leading to best electronic sensors and systems.

Education requirement:

Requires an accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

What skills you will have:

Effective Communications:

  • Capable of running supplier meetings with notes, actions, and minutes.

  • Make oral presentations and write reports needed for project documentation.

  • Advanced proficiency in written and verbal English language skills

Project Management :

  • Develop Gantt charts and utilize the critical path method to track and improve project delivery

  • Assist in detailed project plans including cost, resource requirements and benefit.

  • Produce standard project status reports identifying wins and gaps.

Electronics Engineering:

  • Expertise in the design and manufacturing of electronic components for off highway equipment.

  • Working knowledge of two wire ethernet for system network communication

  • Component failure analysis and direct and root cause determination.

  • Develop specification and validation test plan process for sensors.

  • Creo for solid modeling

Supplier Management:

  • Basic knowledge with Power BI to retrieve supplier information for quality and delivery

  • Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.

  • Research alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
