Design, develop and test electrical and/or electronic components for use within machines and engine systems. Oversee compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components. Investigate and troubleshoot all technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components. Negotiate with electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of systems and components. Develop high-quality electronic/electrical component product lines for engine and machine systems that meet complex requirements and low cost producer (LCP) targets. Partner with suppliers to deliver production components and help the systems engineers integrate successfully into various applications. Direct and participate in the concept and design of complex Electronic Components projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. Develop, improve, and troubleshoot electronic/electrical sensor hardware used in an array of engine and machine systems. Some activities are performed in partnership with a supplier including the manufacturing planning and process development. Identify and resolve design problems and solutions. For some components, the platform includes embedded software as a key deliverable, so coordination of this activity with the appropriate teams is required. A strong knowledge of electronic component hardware design and/or product application is necessary to develop robust solutions. In addition to new development, current production hardware will be maintained and supported through the platform lifecycle including obsolescence management. Strong focus on quality through simulation, analysis, verification, and validation testing at the component level, subsystem, and system level. Advanced troubleshooting and analysis skills are needed to resolve complex development and field issues and to improve overall performance and cost. Complete a project with major focus on delivery. Keep up with industry trends and new technology breakthroughs is essential and requires continuous learning through self/internet study.
REQS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field plus, six (6) years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, or similar engineering occupation in developing electronics for off highway equipment. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field plus, three (3) years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, or related occupation in developing electronics for off highway equipment. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Design solid modeling with parametric software, including database management; (2) Design simulation and calculation experience. Including load and electrical circuit analysis, FMEAs, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; (3) Test plan (lab and field) requirements development for new electrical component designs; (4) Software development and troubleshooting experience; and (5) Lab test equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and CAN communication protocol.
Telecommuting: 40% Telecommuting Allowed.
Summary Pay Range:
$122,325.00 - $165,840
