Caterpillar’s Advanced Materials Technology Department is currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Specialist focused on metallurgical product development. In this role you will have responsibilities as an embedded metallurgist for both the Large and Medium Track-Type Tractor design teams. This position will analyze a wide variety of components providing design support, development, and the associated failure analysis investigations supporting the Large and Medium Track-Type Tractor design teams. This position will have responsibility for managing the associated budgets and customer relationships. Additionally, this position will provide leadership to the Ultrasonic Inspection Team located in Building LL.
Support deviation requests, assurance of supply opportunities
Support needs of product design, supplier development engineers, and operations
Maintaining ISO17025 certification for the LL UT Inspection team
Provide recommendations to Internal customers
Effectively communicate results to our internal customers
Collaborate with clients regarding services, expectations, and budgets
Develop opportunities to support new and existing clients
Lead material analysis investigations
Develop metallurgical testing plans and analyze test results
Create technical reports and/or procedures
Bachelor’s degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university
10+ years of relevant work experience
Top Candidates will also have
Advanced Materials or Metallurgical Engineering Degree
Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Experience with component design and/or supporting manufacturing operations
Experience with Heat Treatment Processes
Experience in creating technical reports, publications and/or procedures.
Strong Analytical Skills
Self-starter, accountable, and customer driven with strong teamwork and organizational skills.
Ability to work multiple projects concurrently
Experience with Ultrasonic and Welding inspections
Budget management experience
The locations for this position are Mossville and East Peoria, IL
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position
This position may require up to 10% travel.
