Role Definition

The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) has an opening for an Engineering Specialist in the emissions compliance team within the Emissions & Power Systems Regulatory Compliance department. This position Supports product regulatory compliance programs through various activities that assist in managing compliance risk and ensuring compliance with applicable product regulatory requirements for intended markets for IPSD-L, LPSD and Progress Rail.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and stay current on product regulatory requirements, and related technology requirements, and understand application of same to Caterpillar products.

  • Follow and utilize established processes and tools to collect, assess, and manage information in support of product certification and compliance.

  • Continuously improving processes within the emissions compliance team to ensure robust compliance of our products, aligning IPSD-M and IPSD-L/LPSD processes where possible.

  • Provide technical support to defect reporting and emissions audits as well as other compliance functions.

  • Support product development programs through VoR (Voice of Regulator) processes to ensure that emissions compliance requirements are identified early in the program.

  • Collaborate with product groups, design control and operations to ensure the development, validation and production of product that meets applicable product regulatory requirements.

  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

  • Requires basic knowledge of engine emissions regulations

  • Requires extensive knowledge of diesel and spark ignited engines and their associated emissions control systems including aftertreatment.

  • The location for this position is Mossville, IL (Building AC) or Lafayette, IN.
