Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a senior Test Development Director to join our Shipboard Systems TestTeam in support of the Aegis Technical Representative contract. The qualified candidate will provide Engineering and Technical support to the T&E Division head at AEGIS TECHREP. Candidate will join with a (USN / contractor) integrated team dedicated to providing quality test support for the AEGIS DDG shipbuilding test program. The candidate will provide leadership to manage the preparation and delivery of complex Industrial Test Procedures (ITPs) that cover the full range of the systems level integration effort.

This position requires the ability to direct the technical day-to-day work of personnel assigned to the shipboard systems team and interface directly with the Customer on status and issues. The senior TDD will also assist the Shipboard Systems Subtask Lead, T&E Task Leader, and the T&E Division Head in identifying both strategic and near-term goals and objectives and developing technical plans and approaches to achieve the departmental goals and objectives. This individual must possess a good understanding of shipyard AEGIS Test Team (ATT) and the DDG shipbuilding test program. They must also have good writing skills and the ability to present ideas or positions in front of an audience. This individual must also possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish realistic and achievable goals yet be flexible in order to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.

Specific Technical Responsibilities.

Specifically, the senior TDD will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the AEGIS Technical Representative (AEGIS TECHREP) Test & Evaluation (T&E) Division Head, located in Moorestown, NJ, in the customer's role as the Aegis Program Test Development Director (APTDD)

  • Mentoring and maintaining oversite of all Test Development Directors and ITP reviewers

  • Identifying, prioritizing, and assessing potential problems, and ensuring that the Task Leader and Navy customers are cognizant of impacts

  • Identifying and assigning team members to specific hull activities, taking into consideration relative abilities and competencies

  • Daily interface with the Shipboard Systems Subtask Lead and Navy customers for coordination and resolution of any problems related to technical performance

  • Assisting the Subtask Lead in administering task related jobs and functions

  • Maintain schedules

  • Provide task projections in support of staffing plans

  • Provide metrics and develop report inputs

  • Supporting roles and responsibilities as an TDD

  • Provide oversight of Industrial Test Procedure (ITP) development to maintain established test standards in support of the government customer

  • Maintain an interface with, and review ITPs developed by over 40 Test Development Agents (TDAs), ensuring AEGIS Weapons System and AEGIS Combat System Industrial Test Procedures (ITPs) conform to Master Test Plans, the AEGIS Test Preparation Directive and are technically and editorially accurate

  • Ensure test methods and objectives are supported by the ITPs

  • Maintain constant contact with the other TDDs, LCSTDDs, and the APTDD

  • Summarize meeting minutes, write reports, edit reports, respond to customer questions and participate in required meetings

Specific Senior Role Responsibilities.

Overall responsibilities related to the senor TDD role include:

  • Providing technical assistance, guidance, and problem solving to the Shipboard Systems team

  • Training and qualification of individuals working the ITP efforts

  • Daily interface with the Shipboard Systems Subtask Lead for coordination and resolution of any problems related to personnel performance

  • Providing opportunities for professional and personal development and growth through judicious assignment to tasks and teams with increasing responsibilities

Planning for achievement of departmental goals and objectives

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Education requirement is a degree in an Engineering discipline, Computer Sciences, or acceptable technical field with a minimum of 4 years related work experience with a Bachelor s degree, 6 years related work experience with an Associate s Degree, or 8 years related work experience with a High School Diploma

  • Proven ability to use all Microsoft Office tools

  • Must have or be able to attain and maintain an active Secret Clearance

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration

  • Active DoD Security Clearance

  • Test and Evaluation familiarity

  • Navy Shipyard Experience

  • Technical writing and editing ability

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $92290 - $156860

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
