Lead Control Systems Engineer (PMC)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Career growth opportunity for a self-motivated engineer who is responsible for assigned activities within the Control Systems engineering discipline on the project. Applies a broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices and makes decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline. Represents the discipline on the project with Contractors and Owner to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work and will coordinate with the Core team Control Systems Lead.

Bechtel is seeking to expand its decades long relationship with Reliance by providing Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade / expansion of existing petrochemical facilities in India. Reliance plans to augment its existing petrochemical facilities in Dahej, Gujarat, and Nagothane, Maharashtra, to expand its PVC capacity. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India. The EPCM Services for OSBL will be led out of Bechtel’s India offices.

The positions on this project will start as assignment in Navi Mumbai, Dahej or Nagothane.

Candidate is responsible for assigned activities within the control systems engineering discipline in a global business unit. Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering in the preparation of engineering analyses. Makes decisions concerning problems within the discipline on the project. Represents the discipline on the project and with the client as directed to resolve technical questions.

Work involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, requisitions, guides, databases, and/or systems. Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepares comments and recommendations. Assists in the preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders. Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work within a discipline on projects of large size and complexity or assignments in support of a global business unit.

Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of licensors, contractors, subcontractors, discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.

Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to the client and upper management.

Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, license, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, regulators).

Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.

Develops Engineering Procedures, design guides, specifications, instructions, philosophies and design criteria .

Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.

Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.

Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.

Mentors engineers, scientists, designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

Candidate has the technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer tools to engineering problems. Has knowledge of and works with project controls within discipline. Good knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (Ceng) Certification is preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Candidate has a recognized degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline, from an accredited college or university. Candidate should have a minimum of 15 years or experience relevant with the years of practical work experience in design engineering. Additional experience with other relevant types of engineering such as PMC, EPCM, systems startup, field engineering, or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants or other engineering/construction firms is a plus.
