Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team of cost engineers and be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges. This position will be based at a jobsite location in Wisconsin. #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill.

  • Analyzes to provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.

  • Develops and implements project requirements for cost control in accordance with established Bechtel and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures.

  • Ensures work is completed as scheduled, supporting project organizational and administrative activities.

  • Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.

  • Reviews identified cost trends for cost effectiveness and suggesting alternatives when appropriate.

  • Maintains open communications with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control activities.

  • Develops unit job hour and pricing data for a specific discipline or other specialty, including estimating parameters, factors indices, productivity, and craft distribution reference data, etc., based on analysis of Bechtel and industry experience. Performs data analysis, identifies problems, and makes recommendations.

  • Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between the projects. Performs direct labor productivity analysis and verifies results.

  • Responsible for all cost reporting on the project, including preparations of financial reports for senior management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience and demonstrated skill in directing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis, in the client offices and the home office. Experience and demonstrated skill in establishing criteria for Project Controls activities.

  • Advanced knowledge of Bechtel's cost management system, Ecosys.

  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems.

  • Knowledge of current industry and technical developments.

  • Must be able to independently provide guidance, training and coaching to junior and mid-grade Cost Engineers with multiple backgrounds and experience.

  • Must have excellent communications and presentation skills to combine sound analytical cost engineering principles with the ability to summarize, reach appropriate conclusions, and implement cost containment plans.
