Celanese Project Manager Sr. in Narrows, Virginia
DUTIES: Oversee engineering design, costing, installation, and start-up of approved projects. Research, plan, and budget to improve construction standards, upgrade systems, complete financial evaluations, and save energy. Obtain approval for capital projects at plant sites. Execute the construction of required equipment and supervise the installation and commissioning of equipment within the site. Develop capital plans and coordinate with process improvements, reliability, operations, and safety on varying strategies. Utilize One.SAP, Microsoft Project, HTRI, Aspen, Icarus, B&M Work, PIP standards and processes, and Six Sigma technology. Work with maintenance and operation personnel to develop project scopes and plan major equipment rebuilds and modifications to meet changing processes and operational requirements. Complete technical reviews of new equipment and designs to be purchased and installed. Ensure that requirements of environmental permits including federal, state, and local are adhered to and that safety standards are met during project planning and execution. Track capital expenditures for adherence to approved project-spending limits. Engage outside vendors to perform engineering, construction, and repairs and oversee vendor work for adherence to agreements. Participate in developing, implementing, and maintaining annual engineering and capital budgets. Navigate SAP to execute capital projects. Apply knowledge of common industrial mechanical equipment including piping, valves, pumps, motors, and heat exchangers. Provide project management, technical engineering design, costs, plans, and specifications for construction of new hardware installations, reconditioning, altering of existing systems, and equipment. Define final project scope, determine best engineering solution, estimate cost, develop funding requests, and manage spending throughout the life of a project. Lead decisions on contracting strategy and selection of contractor(s). Responsible for controlling costs, forecasting spending, and reporting schedules to site supervision. Provide detailed engineering designs for plant additions and modifications via contract design groups. Coordinate and manage contracts in-house and off-site engineering and design efforts during the engineering, design, and drafting phases of project life. Participate in project Safety Reviews (MSR’s), Management of Change (MOC) processes, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR). Assists in start-up, SOP development, and training as required. Responsible for insuring all engineering, maintenance, and operational documentation is filed and available at the time of startup. Manage updates to site electronic file systems, spare parts selection, and stocking efforts. Write specifications for equipment, evaluate vendor bids, and select equipment. Manage purchases to ensure delivery, specification compliance, and cost and forecast control. Check for compliance with approved specifications and designs. Perform appropriate construction checkout and readiness reviews before PSSR.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered, or 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation executing the construction of required equipment and supervising the installation and commissioning of equipment within the site; developing capital plans and coordinating with process improvements, reliability, operations, and safety on varying strategies; utilizing One.SAP, Microsoft Project, HTRI, Aspen, Icarus, B&M Work, PIP standards and processes, and Six Sigma technology; completing technical reviews of new equipment and designs to be purchased and installed; ensured that requirements of environmental permits including federal, state, and local are adhered to and that safety standards are met during project planning and execution; tracking capital expenditures for adherence to approved project-spending limits; participating in developing, implementing, and maintaining annual engineering and capital budgets; navigating SAP to execute capital projects; applying knowledge of common industrial mechanical equipment including piping, valves, pumps, motors, and heat exchangers; participating in project Safety Reviews (MSR’s), Management of Change (MOC) processes, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR); and writing specifications for equipment, evaluating vendor bids, and selecting equipment.
