Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Human Resources Director in this exciting new role to lead our HR Shared Services Center. This is a unique opportunity to lead impactful change, implement best practices, and drive innovative solutions as we deliver a refreshed delivery of HR Shared Services across our organization. This role will report directly to the Human Resources Vice President of Enterprise Shared Services.
This role will lead and manage the HR Shared Services team to deliver exceptional service to the organization, develop standard work across all HR Shared Services processes, and establish Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators. The ideal candidate will effectively lead a team that provides high-quality HR support and ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of HR processes and systems, leveraging technology and best practices. This includes leading, coaching, and developing the HR Shared Services team by fostering a culture of engagement, high performance, and continuous learning. This role is expected to strategically partner with Business Sectors and Center of Excellence HR teams to understand, meet, and exceed the HR stakeholder needs across our various HR support processes. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the continuous improvement of HR service delivery, overseeing the management of HR core administrative support processes including onboarding, offboarding, and employee data management.
The selected leader will create and deliver a roadmap to enhance customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and introduce innovative technology via self-service tools and automation. The leader will provide guidance and support for HR technology systems, ensuring they meet the needs of the organization and are utilized effectively while also monitoring and analyzing HR metrics to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve performance. Collaboration with HR leadership and other stakeholders will be critical to align shared services initiatives with overall HR and business strategies. This leader will also manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts to support HR Shared Services functions, and be expected to support and/or lead HR shared services efforts to support mergers and acquisitions. It is essential that this leader maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. This role will also participate in merger and acquisition activities.
The ideal location for this role is Charlotte, NC. There may be flexility for other locations with remote work.
This position will require 25% of travel (1 week each month on average).
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the HR SSC, aligning with the organization's overall business objectives.
Provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination, and management for the HR Resource Center while facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs within the organization.
People Management:
Build and maintain a strong functional team through effective recruiting, training, coaching, career mobility, team building, and succession planning to ensure employee growth and development.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the HR SSC.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement:
Assessing current HR policies and systems to improve response time and HR administrative service delivery.
Design and implement efficient HR processes and procedures, leveraging technology and best practices to drive productivity and quality.
Establishes procedures and enforces consistent protocol to ensure all internal customers are assisted appropriately and in a timely manner.
Develop and maintain Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators to measure HR SSC performance.
Ensures continuity and successful delivery of functional services to users throughout the organization.
Promotes a Continuous Improvement culture and proactively leverages the company's systems to identify challenges and solve business needs to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Negotiates priorities and support requirements with the ESS IT department for business and software/hardware needs.
Lead strategy to include proactive vendor management and negotiation to ensure consistency of current and improvement of future functionality.
Stakeholder Management:
Foster and maintain positive relationships with HR stakeholders and customer base; serves as an interface between internal/external customers and functional team members to ensure effective definition of and delivery of services provided.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize HR initiatives, ensuring seamless integration with business operations.
Provide HR expertise and guidance to support business decisions and initiatives.
Partner closely with Finance and IT Shared Services to leverage best practices and work together to establish and consistent employee experience.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, maintaining a strong focus on risk management and mitigation.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure HR SSC operations are aligned with organizational standards.
Enhanced focus on business continuity via risk mitigation plans.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
Develop and manage the HR SSC budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost optimization.
Collaborate with Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 12 years of experience or equivalent experience
Experience in Human Resources Management in HR Shared Services or HR Operations
Experience in HR Administrative Services, understanding the needs of the key stakeholders and customer base across a large organization (over 10,000 employees)
Experience in People Management with a proven track record of leading a team including attracting, developing, and retaining talent
Experience in Performance Management with the ability to monitor SLAs/KPIs, identify risks and opportunities, and implement solutions
Experience in HRIS and other HR technologies
Experience in HR Analytics and Reporting
Knowledge of HR functions, processes, and best practices
Knowledge of Employment Laws and HR Compliance requirements
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to collaborate and maintain highly effective relationships with key stakeholders
Ability to analyze systems and operations to identify and solve problems
Strong analytical skills that include the ability to analyze and interpret data, understand trends, and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis

Master s Degree in Human Resources
Professional Certification in Human Resources
Experience in Aerospace & Defense or Technology organization

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $154815 - $263185
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
