BAE Systems has an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to provide guidance and vision to the Electronic Systems (ES) Sector s Business Development Function. As the Vice President of Business Development, reporting directly to the ES Sector President, this role oversees management and leadership of the business in international and domestic marketing efforts to achieve goals and objectives by identifying, shaping and qualifying new business opportunities in both the commercial and military marketplace. The Vice President of Business Development provides vision, strategy, and leadership for the ES Business Development function to achieve customer commitments, meet shareholder expectations, and achieve growth expectations. While fostering a culture of innovative problem solving, performance excellence, and continuous improvement to deliver on keep sold and winning new program opportunities. The Business Development function is a globally dispersed team, focused on coordinating and leading cross-company initiatives to efficiently address customer requirements and eliminate redundant approaches within our ES business areas. In addition, Business Development is focused on supporting the key objectives of our internal customers, Business Area VP/GMs and their teams.
The ideal work location is in Nashua, NH or the greater DC Metro area. Talent near major BAE Electronic Systems work locations like Burlington, MA, Wayne, NJ, Greenlawn, NY, Endicott, NY, Manassas, VA, Huntsville, AL, Austin, TX, Fort Wayne, IN, and Cedar Rapids, IA will be considered.
Primary Responsibilities:
Organize and lead a high performance, geographically dispersed organization to deliver the strategic growth objectives of the ES Sector, adjusting, as required, to market and business conditions.
Lead mission-focused, customer engagement initiatives that positions BAE Systems as a trusted advisor, enhances brand recognition, and drives deeper alignment with customers needs.
Establish Business Development goals, objectives, budgets, and policies for the business. Lead the team to exceed commitments in orders, sales, cash, and EBIT.
Provide guidance and direction to senior Business Development Leadership staff. Responsible for fostering the development and engagement of all employees in the organization. Participates personally in a variety of meetings with military and commercial hierarchy for appropriate interface and sound customer relations.
Develop, plan, propose, and initiate measures and initiatives to improve the business responsiveness to customer bids, proposals, and inquiries.
Measure and regularly report out on organizational results at senior levels. Provides input and support to the company s long and short-term goals and provides the leadership to achieve those goals.
Develop and support strategic partnerships with industry leaders, driving innovation and new business opportunities.
Represent the ES Sector across the BAE Enterprise, serving as a member of cross-sector councils, working groups, and as a mentor to employees and engagement groups.
Represent BAE Systems and the ES Sector in the industry through participation in industry-related organizations, conferences, engagements and panels.
Demonstrate a leading role in promoting adherence to the company s ethical standards and business practices; ensure compliance with the BAE Systems Operational Framework and all other policies and requirements; provide for good stewardship of the assets of the business.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 15 years of senior-level management experience leading technical and/or program teams.
Strong solution-driven technical acumen, demonstrated by understanding and driving technical solutions which suit customer strategy and acquisition plans.
Experience with Government/DoD budget, investments and acquisition processes
International business development experience in aerospace, defense, or commercial
Leadership skills to develop, organize and execute significant capture activities, including building industry teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans to shape acquisitions, to respond to and win business with new and existing customers
Ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, and establish a solid working relationship with senior management, technical staff, division managers, and peers in the sector and across the enterprises
Must have experience identifying, establishing, and building important relationships with senior level executives and stakeholders, as well as the ability to collaborate within and across organizational boundaries.
This role demands engaged and visionary leadership and the ability to collaborate, influence, negotiate, shape, gain commitment to action, and be decisive at all levels.
Must possess sound judgment and the ability to remain calm and focused, particularly while working within narrow timeframes and in a rapidly changing environment.
Negotiates internally and externally at a high level.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers; ability to translate complex topics, convince, and inspire through the written and spoken word.
Proven experience building and leading large, high-performing teams; strong coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to achieve results through others.
Must have Secret clearance with ability to get TS/SCI
Ability to travel as required, 50 % domestic and international
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Master Degrees in Business, Engineering, or related technical discipline with 20 years in leadership roles
Active Top Secret / SCI clearance
Key relationships within US DoD and with defense industry primes
Business leadership experience with complex profit and loss responsibilities within the defense and aerospace market
Professional capture management training and certification
Senior level operational military experience
