Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager within our Electronic Combat Solutions (ECS) business area to lead theContinued Engineering Support (CES)team. CES is the team of engineers that own the HW design post qualification of the product. The CES charter is to engage with development teams during the design process to influence the design approach and gain product knowledge in order to facilitate successful transition of ownership to the production support and sustainment team. We are interested incandidates with leadership and project management experience, who demonstrate strong technical aptitude and leadership skills. Experience with leading multi-disciplined engineering teams through one or more phases of the hardware product lifecycle, as the individual will be in a position to influence program execution and mentor hardware leads.
Responsibilities will include:
Leader of Leaders - Group Lead of 5-6 managers, and 100 engineers
Hiring and staffing hardware engineers in support of program needs
Critical skills development and engineering pipeline planning
Personnel performance and development
Hardware engineering program execution and scope management
Application of hardware and engineering processes on programs
Driving key initiatives for the discipline and business in order to improve HW execution and/or support
Leading the ECS HW Corrective Action Board and driving improvement through action execution
Primary tasks will include:
Continue to build upon the CES strategy as a key organization within hardware engineering
Develop staffing strategies to meet the business needs
Staff current and projected hardware engineering needs for production and sustainment programs while ensuring right person right job assignments
Identify and grow capabilities in critical skill areas identified for the business
Work closely with project engineering managers and hardware managers to ensure successful execution on programs
Monitor hardware execution on programs through performance metrics, execution reviews, and meeting with HW leads routinely
Ensure adherence and support implementation of the hardware process
Drive scope management through understanding of technical baselines, proposal positions, and execution plans
Support, review and approve production support and sustainment bids and proposals, ensuring 80/20 hardware estimates are developed
Provide employees with performance assessments for mid-year, end-of-year reviews, and throughout the year
Develop employees on team and support talent development efforts
Support key initiatives in business area or in discipline to meet yearly objectives and continuous improvement goals
Foster knowledge sharing across the organization through Knowable, collaboration meetings, etc.
Communicate with team members through regular staff meetings and other means
Provide communication of hardware engineering performance to business and discipline senior leadership
Lead and develop the ECS Engineering DMS support execution strategy

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status
Eligible for DOD Security Clearance
Electrical or Mechanical engineering degree
BSE with 12 years experience or MSE and 10 years experience
Ability to drive activities to closure
Experience leading multidiscipline engineering teams
Experience with the design, build, integration and/or test of complex electronic systems
Motivated self-starter with leadership skills and ability to effectively work in a team environment
Excellent problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability
Experience presenting technical information to program teams and/or customers
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Active DOD Security Clearance.
Strong understanding of Product Lifecycle management processes
Demonstrated success managing all hardware engineering aspects of requirements definition, design, integration, test and delivery of complex Electronic Warfare systems
Prior Project Engineer / Control Account Manager (CAM) experience, including managing earned value metrics, such as Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI).
Proficiency using MS Office and MS Project
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $150370 - $255630
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
