Are you looking for an opportunity to develop early MRL (0 5) technologies and products as a Process Engineer I? Then we invite you to work with us in a fast-paced manufacturing environment at the Module Development Facility (MDF). Here in the MDF, you will focus on backend wafer processing for semiconductor products and introducing new products to BAE Systems. In this role, the Process Engineer I will work closely with the Process Engineering Lead and Factory Manager to provide hands-on 1 st shift factory support and drive continuous improvement efforts. This position requires problem solving, data driven analysis, and application of engineering principles to improve production flow.

In this Process Engineer position you will make impacts in the following ways;

  • Provides process engineering support on current production programs and supports overall manufacturing execution to meet cost, quality and delivery targets.

  • Proactively identifies process improvements, and engages with factory and program teams to implement process changes and continuous improvement initiatives for achieving operational excellence.

  • Day to day support of the production floor activities, driving defect reduction, root cause activities, and daily interaction with technicians and operators.

  • Analyze defect data to identify areas to improve yield and reduce defects.

  • Participates in, and documents customer corrective action requests using 8D problem solving methodology. Performs Preliminary Material Review/Material Review Board (PMR/MRB) for the disposition of discrepant material and determination of root cause/corrective action.

  • Defines and specifies the requirement for assembly tooling, fixtures and equipment to support current manufacturing operations and recommends changes for production ramp-ups.

  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support PPV/FAI activities.

  • Supports the implementation of new automation assembly equipment including programming, process qualifications and supporting tooling design through the tooling group. Additional responsibilities include implementation of Total Production Maintenance (TPM) to minimize equipment down time and reduce process variation and the use of PFMEAs to identify process controls to prevent production problems.

  • Help maintain audit readiness for the factory

  • Partnering and collaborating with Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to communicate strategies and requirements

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering, physics, math, or closely related degree

  • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel at all levels, customers and suppliers.

  • Effectively communicate status on technical aspects of manufacturing in program production meetings.

  • Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems.

  • Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment.

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.

  • Flexibility to work overtime and/or weekend as required to meet business objectives.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Previous experience writing or editing standard operator procedures

  • Understand basic equipment programming and troubleshooting methods

  • Previous design of experiment or statistical process monitoring work

  • Understanding of Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICS) processing and handling

  • Experience with handling small and fragile parts

  • Experience using microscopes, cameras, and other laboratory equipment

Prior work experience in LEAN manufacturing environment or training in LEAN principles a plus

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $61820 - $105050

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
