Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced hands-on SAP technology leader who can lead day-to-day activities in software development lifecycle, application architecture and oversee a team responsible for developing software across a diverse SAP landscape. In this role you need to manage development in an existing SAP landscape while also focusing on emerging technologies to deliver world-class solutions.

Primary focus for this role is SAP application development, platform engineering, chair a governance board that oversees SAP technical design and development standards, Testing and DevOps methodology. You will also need to roll up your sleeves to write code and develop software to stay current with industry trends. The ideal candidate will oversee development across multiple SAP projects, design scalable architectures, and build solutions that drive efficiency and innovation to align with the organization’s strategic goals. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and technical expertise to ensure seamless integration across a diverse application landscape.

This role will be responsible for ensuring highest quality of technical design and code in our current SAP landscapes along with testing strategies at the same time oversee and drive large-scale organizational change initiatives by implementing latest SAP technologies as we migrate to SAP S/4 and RISE. This role will also establish and implement development standards and methodologies, product roadmaps, programming standards, and frameworks for code reuse. This role requires strong leadership, to lead large development teams, stakeholder management, and technical expertise to ensure seamless integration across diverse application landscapes.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and implement the overall SAP DevOps strategy aligned with business objectives

• Define roadmaps and corresponding financial plans for technology investments to stay current with the technology trends

• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing insights on SAP capabilities and trends

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

• Build and lead cross-functional teams, including employees, SAP consultants, and third-party vendors

• Foster collaboration among IT, business units, and external partners to ensure smooth integration and user adoption

• Provide mentorship and training to team members on programming standards, technologies like BTP, Joule and other AI-driven solutions

• Monitor project progress, manage resources, and ensure alignment with quality standards

Technical Expertise:

• Ensure optimal integration of SAP with other enterprise systems and technologies

• Stay updated on the latest SAP advancements and recommend upgrades or innovations

• Oversee the ABAP development team within the current ECC environment and key projects

• Lead the adoption of SAP S/4HANA and cloud migration strategies, implementing best practices in SAP architecture, including ABAP development, SAP UI5/Fiori, and SAP Analytics Cloud

• Manage and execute the transition to a clean core using ABAP cloud and the Business Technology Platform (BTP)

• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for SAP Development and Archiving in the existing SAP environments, planning the transition to S/4

• Integrate AI technologies in SAP development and archiving to reduce costs and transition time to SAP S/4

• Collaborate cross-functionally with BASIS, infrastructure, architecture, and functional leaders to achieve results

• Build and lead offshore teams of developers and technologists to support SAP Center of Excellence (COE) initiatives

• Develop and maintain development standards and establish KPIs to measure the design and code quality and track post-implementation performance

• Elevate SAP COE team members skills and knowledge of SAP latest technologies and trends using various forums like training sessions, code jams and hackathons

• Documents and manages SOPs for software and information platform systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field preferred

• 12+ years of development experience in SAP ecosystem with deep knowledge of ABAP along with latest SAP technologies like BTP and Joule and other AI-driven solutions preferred

• Proven record of accomplishment of leading development on SAP S/4HANA or other major SAP implementation projects

• Deep experience in automation and implementing DevOps in SAP ecosystem using tools like Joule copilot, Cloud ALM, ActiveControl and Tricentis

• Experience in governing development across multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to development standards

• Strong understanding of business processes across various functions (finance, supply chain, etc.)

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Expertise in change management and user adoption strategies

• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage diverse teams

Anticipated salary range: $132,700-$214,200
