Position Summary

Within the Bridgestone Americas Corporate Security Department, the Security Specialist I provides a wide range of security services to all Business Units and Staff Functions. These services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Security awareness education and training.

  • Programs to prevent loss of critical, high-value assets such as confidential and proprietary information and physical property.

  • Response to security breaches and investigations thereof.

  • Emergency preparedness and response and business continuity.

  • Security planning and on-site support of special events that require coordination with other departments, specialized security services, and executive escort.

  • Deployment of contract security officers.

  • Analyses of threats and incidents.

  • Compliance with C-TPAT and other regulations.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Manager or Director in the Corporate Security Department.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the tactical supervision of on-site contract security.

  • Coordinates security programs and operations which may be local, national, and/or enterprise-wide across the whole of Bridgestone Americas. Focus areas may include, but are not limited to, Business Assurance Program, Workplace Violence Program, security technology design and deployment, consulting and other direct service delivery to Business Units and Staff Functions, regulatory compliance, and physical security reviews of Bridgestone facilities.

  • Supports residential and community security assessments for expatriates relocating to the US, as well as risk analyses of facilities and operations, particularly if the threat environment is worsening or there has been a security breach.

  • Responds to and assists in investigating and resolving workplace incidents that may include, but are not limited to, theft of physical or intellectual property, burglary, trespassing, use of alcohol or illegal drugs, weapons on premises, and other security issues. Provides recommendations based on lessons learned to prevent future occurrences.

  • Assists in the development and delivery of Business Assurance plans, training and tabletop exercises.

  • Supports the Workplace Violence Program by investigating and providing remedial guidance on potential threats of violence, responding to actual violence, delivering training, and analyzing trends to recommend Program improvements.

  • Assists in providing executive protection services and other security duties in support of V-VIPs, as approved by management, including travel to off-site locations.

  • Under supervision, develops and delivers comprehensive security plans and services for high-profile sporting events that are open to the public and broadcast in US and international media markets.

  • Functions as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), requiring certification, or the capability of being certified, in CPR, first aid, AED, and bloodborne pathogens.

  • As directed, coordinates notification to BSAM executives, Business Unit and Function leadership, managers, and teammates during emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters and manmade events.

  • Writes reports related to incidents, complaints, investigations, audits, and assessments and presents findings and recommendations to Corporate Security Department leadership. As directed, may present this information to Business Unit or Staff Function management.

  • Collects, analyzes, and writes reports on case management data to identify trends and recommend focus areas for risk mitigation.

  • Collaborates with teammates in other functional areas and vendors on day-to-day issues as well as major projects.

  • Establishes relationships with local, regional, State, and Federal law enforcement professionals, as well as peers in Security Departments of other multinational corporations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree.

  • 3 years working as a security professional in a large corporation, including 2 years’ experience in the areas of focus described in the Key Responsibilities section above.

  • Must be available 24/7 and willing to travel 15%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • ASIS PSP certification (Physical Security Professional).

  • ALICE or WAVR-21 training.
