Come join the Bridgestone Americas Data & Analytics team as a Senior Data Engineer and have a meaningful impact in our industry and society! This role focuses on delivering expert guidance and operational excellence of our Central Data Platform (CDP) connecting data across our enterprise to deliver business insights. The Senior Data Engineer is part of a dedicated enablement team reporting into the CDP Product Manager empowering the next generation of transformational business solutions.

Job Duties:

  • Leads projects or processes of diverse scope, while working independently with limited supervision

  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals

  • Supports continuous improvement/automation activities

  • Evaluates and defines functional requirements for data solutions

  • Defines, builds, and documents industrialized data pipeline processes to be used across the organization

  • Utilizes conceptual and logical data models to align stakeholders and management on implementation scope

  • Uses advanced analytical/technical problem solving to develop new solutions to existing problems/procedures

  • Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders

  • Monitors and analyzes appropriate characteristics of data quality such as accuracy and completeness

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, business administration, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with IT Shared Services and/or Data Operations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain complex concepts and technologies to diverse audiences

  • Experience with cloud-based and/or on-prem data platforms and managed services, data lakes, data warehousing, analytics tools, data visualization, and machine learning capabilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data structures, information systems/tools, related software and data management, enterprise content management, and practices in a complex organizational environment.

  • Understanding of technical architecture and design, theories, and best practices in a broad range of deployment, management, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems

  • Working knowledge of security standards and best practices

  • Experience collaborating with technical product teams including offshore resources and working in matrixed environments

  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and observability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with AWS data technologies such as Redshift, Aurora, Glue, Athena, Kinesis, DynamoDB, etc…. Familiarity with other platform technologies such as Azure DataFactory, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, GCP BigQuery, GCP BigTable, etc… a plus.

  • Working knowledge of common data engineering technologies such as Apache Spark, Python, SQL, Scala/Java, Kafka, etc….

  • Experience working in CI/CD environments and the tooling associated with such environments (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo, etc…)

  • Experience working in an agile development process (bias towards the SAFe framework) and operating in a DevSecOps mindset

  • Experience working with SAP or other ERP packages
