Bridgestone Americas, Inc Sr. Director of Business Development in Nashville, Tennessee

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Account / Business Development Director will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic growth strategies for the OE business, with a major focus on innovation as it relates to customer, product and technology solutions. This position will work with engineering, manufacturing and the OE customer account teams to understand the value propositions that Bridgestone can bring to new and existing customers that will ultimately increase sales for increased entity value. The Director will be the subject matter expert on evolving industry trends, both leveraging internal, existing customer insights and doing external research as well. In addition to the cross-functional teams mentioned above, this position will also work closely with other leads on enterprise innovation initiatives, though the primary focus will be business development for OE customers. The Director will also be responsible to establish and maintain the Sales Processes for the OE team. This position will lead a team that works with the account teams as well as the functions for continuous improvement and efficiency gains for the overall benefit to the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Lead development of OE Consumer Tire Strategy

-Lead new business development and business pursuit with new and/or existing customers

-Lead new business development with new vehicle entrants. Work with ATC and product development team to ensure technologies fulfill customer pain points

-Lead the commercial negotiations with existing customer account

-Manage and supervise a sales account team of 3-5 people

Consumer OE tire lead for incremental initiatives: Digital and Mobility Solutions, Complexity Reduction, GOE interface

-Chief of Staff for OE President

-Lead Joint Business Planning including collaborative forecasting process as the Consumer Sales representative. Lead Forecasting reviews, champion supply and demand reviews, and work directly with Key Account management team. Champion the execution of Joint Business Planning, and ensure expansion to additional customers as ready. Create and ensure alliances are win/win/win. Provide monthly updates to leadership on the execution of the JBP process, and engage with teammates to ensure proper follow up. - Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts. Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including Marketing, Demand Planning, LSCM, Analytics, and Sales to ensure each group is meeting deadlines, and providing materials ahead of monthly customer meeting, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations. - Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts Proactively leads a joint company-strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for a one and three-year period. - Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis. - Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel. - IBP Consumer Sales Lead around tactical processes working with demand planning, demand forecasting, supply, strategy team for MTP. - Fill role on New Product Planning group, and take the role as sales lead to share key needs of the sales organization and provide view of the BOSS with product team. - Manage the tactical steps of program changes including winter tire programs, and quarterly net specials. - Ensure proper communication with field sales team to get critical information to customers as needed. - Consumer Sales lead in the launch of new product offerings for Bridgestone and Firestone brands. - This role will lead the launch process across functional teams of Sales, Marketing, Product Planning, Forecasting, Pricing and LSCM to develop, position, launch, and forecast new products. - Establish competitive positioning by SKU, launch quantities needed and update team on ongoing demand. - Responsible and manage internal and external communications related to launching on time/on schedule. - Will collaborate across the organization and communication issues to senior management to make sure each function is accountable throughout the process. - Lead Role in Category Management for the development of business opportunities with our top customers. - Function as a consultant to the customer and internal teams, identifying opportunities to deliver category and customer growth through fact based recommendations. - Assess trends to identify key customer opportunities for growth, collaborate with customer and internal teams for line reviews and in the areas of effective product assortment, shelf merchandising, promotional and pricing recommendations. - Communicate business trends and insights to our Sales Management teams during regularly scheduled internal business review meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-year college degree from an accredited institution - Minimum ten years of strategic sales experience in a business-to business sales environment - 5-10 years of successful experience leading cross-functional teams, preferably in the CPG or Tire industry - Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present recommendations, and summarize complex issues Preferred Qualifications: - MBA or other graduate degree highly preferred - Experience with translating big data or analytics projects to tangible programs in a large diversified business a plus - Experience working with cross-functional teams is required - Previous experience in Key Account management or territory sales, managing major national accounts a plus
