Job Description:
Working closely with the Executive and Global Communication Leader, the Director, Executive and Global Org Communications is responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated, employee communication strategy for the global Pharmaceuticals organization.
The Director, Executive Communications, is a critical role within the J&J Pharm Communications and Public Affairs organization. Reporting to the Global Head of Reputation & Engagement, you will collaborate with others to build and execute an executive thought leadership program for the Worldwide Chair of J&J’s pharmaceutical business sector.
You will build an external visibility program to establish J&J Innovative Medicine as a truly distinctive, global pharmaceutical company, using the Worldwide Chair’s (WWC) voice to amplify our brand and deliver priority message themes to health care providers, payors, patients and patient advocacy groups, regulators, and other critical stakeholders. Your strategy will include paid, earned and owned channels, speaking venues, top-tier and trade media, op-eds, and by-lined articles. You will develop an approach for awards and recognition for the WWC and build out a robust social media presence to include original content and amplification of corporate content.
You will bring your expertise in employee communications, using a multi-channel approach and innovative formats to deliver financial, strategy and business updates that are engaging and easy-to-understand.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute the strategic communication plan for the Global Leader, Pharmaceuticals Communication & Public Affairs and support the Executive and Global Communication Leader in executing the communication plan for the Worldwide Chairman, Pharmaceuticals
Support the creation, development and implementation of an integrated communication strategy for the global Pharmaceuticals organization, including all of internal communications, and coordinating across the organization.
Develop and manage the digital content strategy for the Pharmaceuticals section of the enterprise including Home portal and oversee all Pharm digital channels (Yammer, etc.)
Support sector implementation of global enterprise initiatives and Pharm-specific special projects
include representing the Pharmaceuticals sector on various Pharm, cross-sector and enterprise councils and serving as Pharm point of contact for enterprise initiatives (newsletters, special projects).
Use external data and benchmarking to understand competitor programs and white space for J&J Innovative Medicine WWC.
Identify message themes and build a unique message swim lane for WWC, with awareness of other J&J executive visibility programs that are underway.
Build a practical and achievable internal and external calendar of executive visibility activities.
Contribute to the development of a meaningful metrics program, with regular reporting to measure the impact of strategy and tactics.
Develop scripts, talk tracks, presentations, and other correspondence.
Provide on-site executive support to WWC as needed.
Manage agency partners as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication or journalism preferred with liberal arts, business and political science majors/minors also considered relevant for the role.
Experience and Skills:
10 years of communications experience with at least 5 years experience in organizational and executive communications
This individual must possess superior writing, editing and oral communication skills
expertise in developing and implementing global business and executive communication strategies; general business acumen
knowledge of the pharmaceuticals industry, healthcare environment and related legal, regulatory and compliance requirements; the ability to manage complex, high-impact projects with multiple stakeholders; knowledge of social media channels, especially LinkedIn, etc.
Superior writing skills and ability to translate complex information into clear and effective messaging.
Adept at building strategic plans and translating into practical application, with close attention to detail.
Outstanding executive presence and proven track record of building relationships as a trusted advisor.
Able to navigate a matrix environment and ambiguous situations.
Deeply collaborative and comfortable driving results through influence.
Preferred:
Experience managing agency partners
Healthcare, Pharmaceutical/Biotech, or Medtech industry experience
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $244,950. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
