Position Summary

The Innovation Finance manager is responsible for driving robust and data-driven financial insights on the MedTech Portfolio to support decision making that enables the near and long term health of the MedTech business. This role is critical in partnering across BUs (Cardiovascular, Surgery, DPS & Vision) and functions to provide a consistent framework for portfolio analytics and convert data to strategic insights. The role also drives standardization and simplification of our portfolio tools and governance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with the R&D Strategy, Business Units and cross functional stakeholders to lead the MedTech valuation processes, calendar and stakeholder engagement. This includes driving a consistent application of valuation techniques and guidelines as well as the adoption of new valuation methodologies to enhance opportunity analysis and decision making.

  • Provide robust, consistent and timely financial reporting on MedTech portfolio, to provide transparency to senior leadership. Own MedTech Innovation Portfolio Portal Financial data and strategy and MedTech valuation tools.

  • Lead and shape 2x/year Portfolio Reviews with MTLT leadership.

  • Support LRFP and Strategic Planning for MedTech Innovation to deliver clear articulation of pipeline metrics and impacts on MedTech growth & profitability. Support development of LRFP revenue outlooks.

  • Liaise with R&D Strategy, Value Creation Office and Investor Relations, among others, to deliver internal and external reporting requirements related to MedTech Portfolio.

  • Own MedTech NPI sales reporting for actuals, forecasts, including annual NBO submission.

  • Lead and participate in ad hoc strategic projects and special requests, including NPI GP initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required

  • Minimum of 5 years of finance, accounting, or related business experience in a multi-national organization(s) is required

  • Excellent Excel skills and financial modeling proficiency (NPV, IRR) are required

  • Strong communication skills and experience in building and delivering PowerPoint presentations to business partners and leaders are required

  • Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities and improve process efficiency is required

  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance to cross-functional team in an ambiguous and dynamic environment is required

  • MedTech / Pharmaceutical and/or innovation finance experience is preferred

  • MBA, CMA or CPA is preferred

  • Experience with Power BI or other automation/visualization tools is preferred

  • People leader experience is preferred

  • This position is based in New Brunswick or Titusville, NJ and follows J&J Flex hybrid work schedule, with up to 10% domestic or international travel (required)

Compensation/Benefits

The anticipated base pay range for this position is 100000 to 172500.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.

Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
