This position can be filled as an Engineering Assoicate I, II, or Sr position depending upon the candidate’s experience.

Job Summary Purpose

Responsible for meeting with customers to determine gas facility requirements, performing engineering calculations, and designing gas facility installations in AutoCAD and electronic work management systems.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Meeting with customers, determining gas load requirements

  2. Performing Mathematical calculations and assisting other EAs and Engineers with gas load, gas volume and pressure drop and weight and constituents of natural gas

  3. Performing engineering calculations to size meters, mains and services

  4. Performing Field walkdowns to identify subsurface conflicts and determine optimal facility routing

  5. Designing and performing updates in the electronic facility and maintenance information systems

  6. Determining exact locations of gas facilities using survey equipment

  7. Preparing AutoCAD and GIS facility drawings.

  8. Performing Regulator station design and equipment selection

  9. Preparing packages for Piping Facility Installation/Relocation

  10. Preparing GDT/Maximo estimates for gas main and service design jobs

  11. Performing conflict resolution

  12. Providing storm/outage restoration assistance

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

2 or 4 year Technical Degree or minimum experience requirements.

Minimum experience required of the position

Engrg Associate I - 5 years operational experience or minimum education requirements.

Engrg Associate II - 2 years technical experience and Technical Degree, or 10 years operational experience.

Engrg Associate Sr - 5 years technical experience and Technical Degree, or 15 years operational experience.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Basic theory of electricity. Ability to interpret construction drawings. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self-motivated and dependable team player. Good math skills. Familiar with National Electrical Safety Code and national Electrical Code. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement. Desired: Knowledge of electrical distribution material. Knowledge of electrical distribution construction practices. Working knowledge of the AM/FM graphical program. Working knowledge of the DIS estimating program. Knowledgeable in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Knowledgeable of Entergy's corporate applications (EARL, ESTER, PEARL, etc.). Knowledge of Entergy's Customer Service policies. Knowledge of Entergy's distribution material and construction practices. Knowledge of Entergy's DIS program.

Desired

Knowledge of engineering principles and gas laws.

Have knowledge of gas distribution construction practices and procedures.

Candidate must have experience with and the ability to draw and read construction plans while possessing strong math and geometry skills.

Working knowledge of gas distribution and transmission systems.

Knowledge of gas operations and measurement technology and practices.

Candidate must possess skills, knowledge and be proficient in GIS Geographical Information System and AutoCAD.

Understanding of Coordinate Systems and geography.

Ability to perform land survey functions.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Working Conditions

Must be available for 24-hour call out and extended hours as necessary. As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.

As a safety sensitive position, compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) drug and alcohol regulations, including but not limited to pre-employment drug testing and background screening.

Entergy has entered into an agreement to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business to Bernhard Capital Partners. The sale is expected to close in approximately the third quarter of 2025. Entergy has no planned reduction in workforce as a result of this sale, and intends to operate the business as usual prior to the sale.
