H ow will you make an impact in this role?

Provide compliance guidance to Credit and Fraud Risk on strategic initiatives for the commercial non-card product lines.

  • Review risk management strategies across end-to-end risk functional areas, from new accounts to collections.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders (e.g. other Global Risk and Compliance colleagues, General Counsel Office, Operational Excellence, Independent Compliance Testing, Privacy, Internal Audit Group)

  • Review documentation and approve compliance related procedures, requirements, communications and other credit and fraud risk management related activities.

  • Support CFR’s continuous innovation, while enhancing customer experience and ensuring safe and sound practices, consistent with regulatory expectations.

  • Conduct ongoing risk assessment, monitoring and reporting activities to keep business informed of regulatory risks and issues.

  • Manage an effective Compliance program, including overseeing the Annual Compliance Plan (ACP), Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA), Business Unit Compliance Assessments (BUCA) and issue management processes.

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Compliance Colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep regulatory knowledge of the financial regulations applicable to commercial lending and credit card products including UDAP, Fair Lending and Regulation Z.

  • Experience in banking, credit card, compliance, legal or risk.

  • Proven experience supporting the effective execution of American Express’ Compliance Risk Management framework, including working knowledge of AEMP39

  • Experience assessing, supporting, and managing launch of complex new products

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in the development and selection of compliant solutions

  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and support multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt easily to frequent change

  • Strong collaborative skills and experience leading and working in a matrixed and agile environment and on cross-functional teams

  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational and managerial skills; ability to lead and inspire others through continuous coaching, feedback, recognition and encouragement

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to persuade and influence

  • Proactive, results-oriented, and self-driven

  • Creative and highly collaborative ability to solve business challenges

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Advanced degree

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) Certification

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
