What You Will Achieve

The Platform Delivery and Operations team, part of the Artificial Intelligence, Data and Advanced Analytics (AIDA) organization, offers a comprehensive suite of integrated platform technologies that are essential components of Pfizer's data and analytics ecosystem.

The AIDA platforms are utilized by teams across Pfizer to leverage the potential of big data, machine learning, and interactive analytics, spanning from scientific and clinical applications to commercial use across all Pfizer geographies.

A key platform technology within this ecosystem is Databricks, which provides a unified interface and tools for various data tasks. It is widely used in the Product Research and Development space for data ingestion, processing, scheduling, management, data discovery, annotation, and exploration.

In this role, we are seeking hands-on experts and frontrunners in the field of Data & Analytics engineering to develop cutting-edge analytics ecosystem capabilities for early incubation and large-scale adoption. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented group of analytics innovators, data engineers, data scientists, and technologists across the enterprise, scaling capabilities for broader utilization.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Lead the engineering efforts for the Data and Analytics ecosystem.

  • Collaborate closely with vendor partners to guide their product development lifecycle.

  • Develop and expand a data engineering framework to ensure the reliability, scalability, quality, and efficiency of data pipelines, storage, processing, and integration.

  • Define and document standards and best practices for data engineers and analysts, fostering collaboration to accelerate their work.

  • Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting engineering issues that impact platform availability and analytics productivity, resolving critical support issues with high technical complexity.

  • Measure and monitor service and support performance and health, including SLAs and KPIs.

  • Continuously update technical and industry knowledge and skills through ongoing learning activities.

  • Engage and communicate directly with key business and technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering with five years of experience in the IT industry, with a preference for consulting experience; OR Master's degree with three years of relevant experience; OR Associate's degree with eight years of relevant experience; OR Ph.D. with 0+ years of experience; OR 10 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Bring more than 3 years of experience working with modern data architecture.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of database technologies, both relational and non-relational.

  • Possess deep skills in Python, PySpark, and SQL.

  • Show demonstrable experience in developing and nurturing a Data Engineering framework, including package/dependency management tools, functional testing, and load testing.

  • Have a solid understanding of Data Management principles, including quality, governance, security, privacy, life cycle management, and cataloguing.

  • Evaluate the performance and applicability of multiple tools against customer requirements.

  • Work within an Agile delivery/DevOps methodology to deliver proof of concept and production implementation in iterative sprints.

  • Have hands-on experience developing batch and streaming data pipelines.

  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies.

  • Display grit when faced with technical issues, ensuring you understand what is happening and why things are not working.

  • Possess strong communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical individuals as needed.

  • Have hands-on experience and proficiency with DevOps and information tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, and Yammer.

  • Be able to work independently.

  • Have experience working in a Pharma or a highly regulated industry.

Nice-to-Have

  • Over 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering and ETL using Databricks on AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud infrastructure and functions.

  • Proficient in working with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing, and Delta LiveTables (DLT).

  • Skilled in integrating end-to-end Databricks pipelines to transfer data from source systems to target data repositories, ensuring consistent data quality and reliability.

  • Experienced with CI/CD on Databricks using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Ansible, Terraform, and Databricks CLI.

  • Hold Databricks certifications or AWS Solution Architect certification.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $93,500.00 to $155,900.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.   • The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $84,200.00 to $140,400.00.
