How will you make an impact in this role?

Global Merchant Services is the merchant acquirer, processor and marketing partner for the millions of merchants around the world who accept American Express Cards. The Director of Global Merchant and Network Services Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for providing and enabling centralized financial business analysis, decision support and strategic analysis for the Global Merchant and Network businesses.

The role sits within the BU FP&A organization, partnering closely with the GMNS CFO, Controllership, and other Corporate Planning teams. The Director will own end-to-end GMNS P&L reporting & forecasting activities and lead deep-dive results analytics, with a particular focus on driving comprehensive financial insights and a clear trajectory of the overall business momentum to finance leadership.

In addition, the director is expected to play an active role in enhancing the results and analytics capabilities of the organization, leveraging technology tools to support emerging data capabilities. The Director should be a self-starter who is comfortable challenging ideas, deliver superior analytics, and own complex deliverables in a global organization.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to lead a strong global team and develop deep knowledge of the GMNS business, with regular and meaningful exposure to senior leadership, influencing executive reporting materials and messages.

Responsibilities:

This position will lead a team based in New York & India responsible for the following:

  • Lead Annual Plan, Long range planning, & Monthly forecasting for the GMS business, especially focusing on key drivers such as volume impact to Merchant revenue streams, interest rate volatility on Net Interest Income, and OPEX management

  • Drive detailed insights on GMNS P&L, including variance analytics, trend analysis and key messages, catering to diverse customer needs across GMNS CFO and CP&A senior leadership

  • Partner on ad-hoc analytical projects from GMNS President’s Office and GMNS LFO, partnering closely across a wide range of stakeholders

  • Enhance and automate AXP systems for planning & reporting cycle: leverage emerging technology and capabilities to drive improvements to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of planning and results processes; develop tools to enhance the monthly results process and focus on the core growth trends in the business

  • Proactively monitor changes to the internal and external environment, linking them to financial impacts.

  • Build, maintain, and leverage excellent relationships with key Finance and Business colleagues.

  • Lead a global team - coach, mentor, and develop a talented team of colleagues

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in Finance

  • Track record of building relationships to influence decisions and drive results

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills

  • Adept at interpreting financial information to derive business insights

  • Ability to synthesize complex data into an easy-to-understand message

  • Experience with prioritizing multiple requests and managing tight deadlines

  • Highly motivated with strong sense of accountability, initiative, and a ‘can-do’ attitude

  • Strong customer focus with ability to anticipate needs and desire to meet them

  • Proven people leadership skills demonstrating ability to develop and inspire through coaching and recognition

  • Knowledge of Oracle and TM1 required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lumi and other analytical experience will enhance any application

  • MBA background will enhance any application

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
