American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the B2B payments division of American Express, enabling businesses globally to pay for and finance what they need to grow their businesses. GCS provides a suite of payment and lending products, solutions for travel and everyday business spending, cross border payments, global currency solutions, and business financing.

GCS Strategy, M&A, and Alliances (SMA) team plays an integral role in defining, developing, and leading new strategies, inorganic growth (M&A), partnership (Alliances) opportunities, as well as managing Annual Investment Planning, Opex, Strategic Engagement Team to accelerate our overall 3-year strategy and vision.

Within SMA, the Strategic Engagement Team (SET) is designed to drive forward high-priority, business-critical, strategy, operations, and marketing initiatives within a defined-scope of a project.

SET assignments are project-based and staffing is prioritized in alignment with GCS Strategic Pillars. Projects can be short-term (2-3 months) or long-term (4-6 months) assignments, to meet stand-alone project needs and/or provide critical coverage for GCS’ critical projects. Assignments will have specific goals and can range in function including marketing strategy and execution, business development, product development or project management and will provide broad exposure across the organization.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Lead engagements that deliver incremental value by accelerating growth or exploring new opportunities across GCS

  • Lead a team of Managers across multiple internal partnership opportunities with varying partners

  • Support the talent strategy by attracting, recruiting, mentoring, and developing top talent

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in at least 3 of the following areas ideally over 10 years: Strategy, Project Management, Customer Marketing, Acquisition, Product Development, Business Development

  • Learning agility - ability to adapt to changing business environments and quickly ‘get up to speed’

  • Superior communication skills - ability to synthesize and structure complex information and deliver it clearly with the right level of detail depending on the audience

  • Ability to influence in a matrixed environment to achieve outcomes without direct responsibility through strong story telling & quantitative and qualitative evidence

  • Track record of innovative, business driven results

  • Demonstrated success in project management and ability to quickly build effective working relationships

  • Proven track record to lead, promote and inspire change while creating followership and inspiring teams

  • Proven ability to work with multiple leadership styles

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of GCS business functions and capabilities, and line experience strongly preferred

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
