The Manager of Brand & Reputation Communications will be part of a team responsible for building and protecting the American Express brand through work with the Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) division. Communications initiatives will support priority Brand narratives, including enhancing the value of American Express membership, backing communities, and marketing leadership and innovation.
The Manager should have a passion for the American Express brand, an understanding of the evolving media and marketing environment, the ability to proactively craft external and internal communications strategies and drive results, a collaborative attitude, creative- and risk-mindset, and the ability to move with agility and make decisions quickly and effectively.
This role will report to the U.S.-based Director, Brand & Reputation Communications, and also support the U.S.-based Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Communications.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies, approaches, and content in a fast-paced environment with close attention to detail to engage internal and external partners and advance business goals. This includes clear and concise writing tailored to relevant audiences and channels.
Develop materials across external and internal communications including internal memos, messaging, talking points, Q&As, press releases, and visual content.
Set ambitious KPI-driven goals and use measurement to help inform and enhance communications strategy.
Support executive thought-leadership for GABM senior leaders, across media interviews, speaking engagements, award submissions, etc.
Develop strong relationships with press and industry partners to promote GABM initiatives and represent Amex as a spokesperson when responding to media inquiries.
Provide counsel to protect and defend the Amex Brand and corporate reputation.
Collaborate across CA&C to support enterprise-wide communications initiatives and with global communications teams in key markets to promote a consistent Brand narrative around the world.
Remain curious and ahead of emerging platforms, trends, competitor news, and best practices across communications, brand marketing, digital marketing and social media, and regularly share your perspective to keep the team informed.
Help oversee and manage a U.S.-based external PR agency.
Minimum Qualifications
5 years of public relations experience, with demonstrated ability to influence and counsel internal and external partners.
Strong judgement while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Strong organization and attention to detail.
Strong strategic and creative thinking with proven experience leading winning communications strategies and plans.
Strong storytelling ability and media relationships across all types of media.
Experience counseling executives and driving their external and internal communications needs.
Proven track record for developing and implementing programs that have driven tangible results.
You thrive in a fluid, fast-paced environment and can lead multiple priorities and think and act on your feet.
Creative and have experience leading and working with agency and creative teams to build effective communications strategies and campaigns.
Needs to be a self-starter, strong collaborator, good project manager, and able to work independently, while operating as an adaptable colleague.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
