The Platforms and Capabilities team within Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) is responsible for building and implementing leading-edge platforms and solutions for risk management. Our vision is to “provide best-in-class Platforms and Capabilities that enable the risk management framework in GRC and across the Company and empower colleagues to excel at risk management activities.”

We are seeking a Project Manager to be a part of this important evolution of the next-generation Risk Management and analytics products. In particular, this person will work on the ‘Integrated Risk Management’ team. The Project Manager will provide day to day strategic support and will be responsible for project management (creation of project timeline, budget allocation, resource planning, etc.) of technology products and platforms for the GRC organization.

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of IRM projects from initiation to implementation. You will be responsible for ensuring visibility across other tech teams and business stakeholder groups of the status and any outstanding risks and issues. You will also identify, support, and/or action next steps to resolve impediments to delivery. You will ensure project meets compliance and regulatory obligations with the highest quality of deliverables. And you will provide regular project status updates to peers and leadership. You are not afraid of pushing boundaries to achieve the best outcomes for Amex.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives execution on defined projects or tasks in low to medium-complexity environments

  • Develops project plans and ensures that the scope and approach are fully understood by all stakeholders

  • Monitors and communicates progress of project delivery by cost, scope, schedule and including the assessment of risks/issues

  • Identifies the project critical path and closely manage those activities

  • Identifies inter-team and external technical dependencies

  • Facilitates technical conversations (e.g., relating to architectural approach and system design)

  • Works within and across team(s) to track status of risks, issues and impediments to the project delivery and escalate accordingly

  • Provides and consolidates inputs for leadership updates on delivery status and key decisions needed to support project delivery

  • Take meeting minutes and drive any actions assigned

  • Tracks key project achievements and any lessons learned

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems Technology or related field

  • Agile certification is preferred

  • Good to have – Rally/JIRA/Confluence experience

  • Good to have – Agile/Scrum methodology experience

  • Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects

  • Prior relevant Technology and business work experience

  • Ability to work with Engineers, Product Managers and Vendors to achieve project goals

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to facilitate technical meetings and discussions of any technical challenges and systems design

  • Ability to collaborate across teams and bring different opinions to consensus

  • Ability to maintain a high attention to detail in a deadline-driven work environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging cross-functional stakeholders and business partners

  • Understanding of project management process, project management software tools, templates, and management techniques

  • Experience in risk management disciplines

  • Working knowledge of agile and lean software development methodologies, and the importance of iteration and continuous validation

  • Strong strategic thinker with the ability to prioritize tasks and drive results across various initiatives

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple work-streams

  • Ability to analyze issues and business use cases, document analysis, and execute plans to action

  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly in an environment with evolving business demands

  • Excellent relationship and influence management skills with the ability to build productive relationships across teams and levels of seniority

  • Self-confident with a strong sense of integrity and the ability and willingness to challenge and be challenged

  • Confident with the ability to challenge the status quo and drive innovation - articulate point of view with a rationale and be able to defend it

  • Proven ability to build collaborative, trusting cross-functional relationships across diverse set of stakeholders

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with comfort with data-driven decision making

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
