Under limited supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills in the municipal bond market obtained through training, certification and experience. Guidance is provided to perform varied work of substantial variety and complexity, requiring evaluation, originality and ingenuity in making moderately complex decisions. Recommends solutions to complex problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors municipal bids coming into the Bonddesk system to make sure they are fair and reasonable before sending through the retail account representatives.

  • Ensures any trades that do not fill automatically on the system get executed in a timely manner.

  • Responds to questions from account representatives pertaining to bids they are inquiring about.

  • Tracks and confirms transactions to ensure accuracy.

  • Advises others in resolving complex problems and issues.

  • Accesses, interprets and applies market and client information; prioritizes flow of information; and communicates to appropriate personnel.

  • Maintains currency in organizational and industry current events and best practices.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Industry regulations related to the municipal bond trading desk.

  • Commonly used securities industry practices and procedures.

  • Concepts, principles and practices of municipal bond trading.

  • Market levels, including accuracy of bids.

  • Financial markets and products.

Skill in

  • Responding professionally to inquiries and researching and resolving problems in a timely manner.

  • Attending to detail while ensuring quality standards are met without impacting workflow.

  • Developing and maintaining effective workflow processes.

  • Using standard office equipment and required software applications for electronic communication, spreadsheets and databases.

Ability to

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Provide a high level of customer service, including demonstrating sensitivity to customer needs and responding proactively.

  • Identify pertinent information and determine the potential impact on decisions and actions of the assigned functional area.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

Education/Previous Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • OR

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications

Licenses/Certifications

  • SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.

  • FINRA Series 7 License, or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of hire.
