Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the global leader in payment solutions for Small, Medium (SME) and Global and Large (G&L) enterprises. The objective of the GCS Control Management New Product Governance (NPG) and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team is to provide subject matter expertise on specific NPG/M&A to ensure the BU is equipped with in-depth knowledge of risk-stripes to manage and mitigate these risks effectively; supports the BU with expert guidance for topical Operational Risk intelligence.
The objective of the GCS Control Management Risk ID, Assessment, Testing and Reporting team is to identify, assess, mitigate, and report on Operational Risk within BU processes for GCS to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, Amex policy and enhance the BU's resilience through managing a clear methodology of inherent and residual risk.
The GCS Control Management Risk ID, Assessment, Testing and Reporting team is hiring for two roles under this posting: Senior Analyst, Risk Assessments & Senior Analyst, New Product Governance. By applying for this position, you will be considered for both roles. The Sr. Analyst - Risk Assessments, will be facilitating and supporting businesses in identifying, assessing, and monitoring risks and controls associated with end-to-end business processes. This includes further assessments and testing to ensure regulatory and internal standards are met. While the Sr. Analyst - New Product Governance, is focused on performing comprehensive risk assessments on business initiatives before they go into market. This includes proactive risk identification and ensuring effective controls are developed to mitigate risk and prevent customer harm.
The Senior Analyst - Control Management - Risk Assessment & New Product Governance will:
Facilitate governance reviews of new initiatives, including but not limited to; products, capabilities, and services, in the business and ensure accurate risk identification to drive the necessary level of due diligence
Support risk mitigation practices within the business, including the integration of newly acquired external assets, by partnering with other risk stripes
Support BU with identification of risks and spotting areas where product changes or improved controls may be required within New Product Governance (NPG)
Support sharing insights, better practices, themes, etc. across the enterprise
Assist in additional identification of risks throughout business processes and systems (along with business process owners)
Support control monitoring (supplemental to BU process owners testing) and compile key operational risk trends, activities, and events
Support thematic risk reporting (levels, trends, causes)
Categorize controls and map against risks and processes (e.g., cross-BU process-control mapping)
Required Qualifications:
2 Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities
project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous
Experience in at least one of the following:
Supporting identification of operational risks throughout business processes and systems
Facilitating risk assessment performance in addition to further assessments and testing programs to ensure regulatory and internal standards are met
Supporting independent control monitoring, including identification of control improvements
Supporting the identification of areas of risk for intervention, including conducting independent quality assurance and process testing
Compiling thematic risk reporting to provide actionable insights on risk levels, emerging trends and root causes

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
