JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Creative Director will lead the development and execution of the creative strategy, creative concepts, brand identity, visual identity, print, collateral, and digital marketing initiatives. The Senior Creative Director will lead the internal creative team & manage external creative agencies in the development of breakthrough marketing campaigns in partnership with the Brand, Loyalty, & Contentinent Marketing teams. The Senior Creative Director must excel in highly conceptual design and display an aptitude for strategic thinking. The role will be a core member of Riott Haus, the in-house creative agency at Marriott International. This role will lead a team of creatives (art, copy, video, & design) to produce work that exceeds brand team expectations.

The Senior Creative Director should have a well-rounded approach to developing multi-million-dollar marketing campaigns expressed through all mediums including: TV, Print, OOH, Social, & Experiential . This role requires expert storyteller skills and someone who can fashion award-winning narratives that build the brand through all mediums and delivers a unique experience. The job includes hands-on development to ensure that all collateral (i.e photo-shoots, illustrations, digital imaging and the research of stock photography, etc.) follows both brand and industry standards.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience Required

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Graphic Design, Art Advertising, Product Design, Advertising, or related field

  • 10+ years of art direction and design demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance

  • Creative agency, publisher or in-house brand creative leadership experience

  • Experience leading multi-million-dollar consumer marketing campaigns with a focus on TV, Print, OOH & Social

  • Demonstrated experience with digital marketing and advertising design execution

  • Demonstrated experience with Social Media marketing, content, and advertising

  • In-depth and current understanding of design trends and industry best practices

  • In-depth and current understanding of social platforms, devices and trends

  • Experience handling and prioritizing multiple projects across multiple brands/ stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results under difficult conditions, particularly when faced with complexity and ambiguity

Education and Experience Preferred

  • Experience with travel industry

Position will be hybrid working out of MI Lab, 417 5th Ave 10th Floor, New York, New York. Candidates must be local to that office.**

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Lead strategy and execution of holistic digital and social initiatives:

  • Ensures that creative meets brand guidelines and production standards.

  • Leads a team of Associate Creative Directors – ensuring that each assignment attacks the business problem from different points of view while producing concepts consistent with the brand strategy.

  • Serves as a career manager as the senior most design authority on the team, helping to elevate and guide the creative team members to apply modern design techniques and harness new ways of thinking to execute campaigns.

  • Partners with Account Services team to proactively seek new projects for Riott Haus

  • Supervises the execution of new art such as photo-shoot, illustrations, digital imaging and the research of stock photography

  • Organizes and prioritizes the creative process so the approval process will not be delayed

  • Works closely with entire internal team to develop effective, impactful ideas based on tactical plan.

  • Oversees and implements visual strategy and workflow of digital marketing and advertising campaigns supporting the digital brand strategy.

  • Manages agency / freelance resources and oversee strategic initiatives related to digital and social strategy for assigned brands.

Consult and partner with stakeholders to provide expertise:

  • Develop strong relationships with Marriott subject matter experts and channel leaders, agencies, media and distribution partners to cost-effectively maximize opportunities for the brand while ensuring high-quality on-strategy creative is delivered.

  • Monitor and report out on industry best practices and competitive/landscape trends

  • Partner with internal and external PR teams to ensure tight integration and holistic campaigns.

  • Assist senior associates in achieving business results by:

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance process

  • Participate in annual planning sessions

  • Achieving results within scope of responsibility

  • Submits reports in a timely manner, ensuring delivery deadlines are met.

  • Promotes the documenting of project progress accurately.

Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities

  • Interview and hire employees.

  • Promote the fair and equitable treatment of employees.

  • Facilitate regular, ongoing communication in department (e.g., staff meetings).

  • Foster employee commitment to providing excellent service, participate in daily stand-up meetings and model desired service behaviors in all interactions with customer and employees.

  • Incorporate customer satisfaction as a component of staff/operations meetings with an emphasis on generating innovative ways to continually improve results.

  • Set goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance review process and hold staff accountable for performance goals.

  • Solicit employee feedback.

  • Utilize an “open door policy” and reviews employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns.

  • Promote adherence to policies consistently, follow disciplinary procedures and document items according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and support the Peer Review Process.

  • Conduct annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Champion change ensures brand and regional business initiatives are implemented and communicate follow-up actions to team as necessary.

  • Identify talents of direct reports and their teams and assist with their growth and development plans.

The salary range for this position is $150,011.00 to $275,021.00 annually. This position offers health care benefits, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, accrued paid time off (including sick leave where applicable), life insurance, disability coverage, other life and work wellness benefits and may include incentive compensation. Benefits and incentive compensation may be subject to generally applicable eligibility, waiting period, contribution, and other requirements and conditions.
