How will you make an impact in this role?
The Global Treasury Controllership (GTC) team is part of the American Express Global Controllership Organization. GTC plays a significant role in the Middle and Back-office treasury functions, financial reporting processes for the Company’s cash, debt, securities and financing transactions, investments, and derivatives ensuring the Capital, Liquidity and Exposure Management needs of the company are met while closely partnering with Treasury Organization. Additionally, GTC provides financial instrument valuation services for it’s derivative and non-derivative products.
This Senior Financial Analyst role is within the Global Treasury Advisory and Valuation team of GTC and is responsible for performing periodic valuation activities and preparing reports and supporting analysis for use by Senior Management and External/Regulatory Reporting. The Senior Analyst will also be responsible for establishing models to value new products, support on requirements for regulatory reporting as well as support key initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
Performing periodic valuation activities in time constraint and control environment, performing various analysis based on fair value changes, supporting the development to enhance the company’s current valuation tools, and supporting various business partners on valuation related queries.
Perform price verification for company’s investment portfolio, 401k and define pension plan.
Perform valuation for company’s various fixed income products (i.e., Long term debt) and Card Member receivables and Loan products.
Build successful relationships with business partners. (e.g., Treasury, External Reporting, Market Controllers)
Additional responsibilities include participation in special projects, creating and updating SOP’s and desk instructions (DIs) and supporting PwC audit.
Minimum Qualifications
2-4 years’ experience in Accounting and/or Finance - Big 4 experience preferred.
Solid understanding of financial instrument such as FX forward, interest rate swaps and fixed income valuation concepts.
Basic understanding of US GAAP.
Possess abilities to challenge the status quo and apply a process-improvement mindset.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a strong control environment.
Excellent communication skills, including: written, listening and presentation abilities.
Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of ASC 820 is a plus.
Bloomberg pricing and valuation experience is a plus.
Knowledge/experience related to using various analytical tools such as Power BI/Python is a plus.
Experience in Treasury/Treasury Controllership and/or knowledge of capital markets is a plus.

Qualifications
Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
