Function Description:

The Enterprise Data Strategy team within Credit & Fraud Risk is focused on evaluating, integrating, and rationalizing Amex's data assets, globally, to drive elevated risk decisions and customer experiences across the credit and fraud lifecycles.

Purpose of the Role:

This Senior Manager will be responsible for external data strategies for New Accounts strategy and models. They will lead discussions with CFR Leadership to influence medium to long term strategy. Role also presents opportunity to work with industry leaders and participate in external conference to bring external perspective on market trends & competitive solution, develop & implement effective strategies & innovate with bespoke data products. They will collaborate with Global Data Investment Planning and Service Category Strategist to create winning deal constructs, lead contract negotiations, create data deployment plans and implement medium to long-term strategies for success.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Own projects on data transformation, define business problem statement & plan for evaluation, delivery & accomplish key results.

  • Lead with an external perspective, able to offer an understanding of data innovation in the marketplace & influence & shape data strategies.

  • Ability to navigate multi-function & stakeholders to gather diverse information & funnel it into medium to long term strategies. This role partners closely with the following organization, which are US Consumer Credit Risk Strategy & Global Decision Science, General Counsel Organization, Global Compliance and Ethics, Procurement & Supply Management, Operational Excellence, Risk Product.

  • Build the best team, must invest in grooming talent through feedback and coaching, regular career aspirations conversations and providing necessary tools and resource to the direct report(s) and indirect reports to be successful in the role.

Data-Driven Impact

  • Analyze large sets of data in internal analytical environment or Experian ‘s Sandbox to quantify opportunities to increase coverage, improve quality, incremental intelligence, improve risk discrimination, etc and influence for US Consumer Customer management & Lending strategy and models use cases and maximize return on data investments.

  • Conduct usage monitoring, high balance case review, data audit, competitive assessment to inform strategies for value-based contract & data transformation.

Operational Excellence

  • Fortify foundation by ensuring permissible use & service level agreements are established, data quality controls enhanced, usage volatilities are investigated & resolved, Work orders or agreements meet standard, in effective collaboration with GSM, TRM COE, OE, Controllership & Capability Product owners & Product Managers.

  • Bring in process excellence, cultivate culture and behavior to rationalize data investment, deliver data driven insights to improve return on investment, manage operational risk in third party relationship and in data integration and in end-use of data.

Qualifications:

  • Adept at assimilation of technical requirements on product, process & contract to inform problem statements, project plan, key success metric and dependencies, executive communication.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and across a matrixed organization to deliver solutions at top speed

  • Ability to manage and lead large scale projects with multiple cross functional partners

  • Good communication and influencing skills with an ability to translate business problem statement into analytical exercise & analytics outcomes into compelling business insights and recommendations

  • Strong technical skills to perform data evaluation, analytics, and matrices tracking/reporting

  • Knowledge of Python, Hive, familiar with big data and cloud environments, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint

  • At least 5 years of experience in a financial services organization in consumer or commercial data or strategy function

  • Knowledge of Credit Risk standards, practices, or external Credit data sources

  • Master's Degree or higher required, concentration in a quantitative field preferred

  • Adaptable interpersonal skills, high energy, and a proven team-first mentality

  • The role requires a highly analytical, creative, strong communicator and strategic thinker with proven experience of defining strategy, delivering Business intelligence in data, project management and performance management of external partners and direct reports.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
