The American Express Network enables over $1.6 trillion in annual spend and serves card Issuers and Acquirers in over 190 markets worldwide. Network and Acquirer Solutions (NAS) operates the American Express Global Network with the highest levels of performance, security, and integrity; and is supporting Network coverage expansion by onboarding new Network Issuers and Acquirers and launching a new Network in China. The NAS Product Development & Management team is focused on delivering innovative products, services, and capabilities that anticipate the needs of customers – the team is enabling more types of payments, supporting new use cases, and crafting compelling value propositions for issuers, merchants, acquirers, businesses, and consumers.

Product Managers within the Network Product team play a critical role in leading the vision, strategy, and development of American Express’s emerging payment solutions. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and a problem solver who can balance business, technical, and industry knowledge to deliver innovative solutions that will directly benefit our customers. This exciting role will offer a dedicated product management leader the opportunity to drive the end to end development and management of new payment products such as Real Time Payments, Push Payments, Cross Border Payments, etc. and will provide the opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of innovative and groundbreaking digital payment solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drive the product vision, strategy, and value proposition for the Multi-Rail Payment capabilities.

  • Own and prioritize the A2A roadmap with inputs from internal and external customers.

  • Conduct market and user research, identify market trends, perform quantitative and qualitative analyses, and evaluate the competitive landscape to find opportunities to further improve the product value proposition and refine the product roadmap.

  • Collect and synthesize product data to drive actionable insights and steer the product strategy.

  • Assess commercial viability – and improve revenue window on new product solutions and offerings. Promote product development prioritization accordingly.

  • Partner with Product Development teams to groom, prioritize, and execute on the product backlog in an agile environment.

  • Collaborate with key internal and external partners (e.g., P&L owners, product development, engineering, data, analytics, other product management teams, etc.) to deliver results as a cross-functional team.

  • Develop Go-to-Market strategies that enable capabilities to be adopted and scaled.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience: Significant experience in FinTech, Payments processor, Product Management and/or Management Consulting.

  • Comfort with ambiguity – ability to draw from market & user research / competitive analysis to syndicate a view of required solution characteristics, and features and or to define segments within which existing products should be deployed.

  • A solid understanding of the strategic drivers for a competitive value proposition, and effective market deployment

  • Passion for payments and innovation: Passion for emerging payments, FinTech’s, and evolving payments landscape (e.g., real time payments, open banking, etc.). Knowledge of payments industry and innovative technologies, ideally expertise in digital payments.

  • Project management experience: Superior organizational skills with the ability to autonomously manage several initiatives at once and get results in a fast paced, multi-partner environment with constant change.

  • Familiar with Agile and Scum methodologies.

  • Collaborative teammate: Ability to collaborate with internal partners and optimally operate in ambiguity, white space, and constantly evolving priorities.

  • Leadership experience: Experience leading cross-functional teams to manage large scale product launches, including test and learn pilots.

  • Intellectual curiosity: High-intellectual curiosity, creative and critical thinker with experience in sophisticated problem solving and strategic thought leadership.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit: Proactive self-starter with a demonstrated track record for navigating complex and highly matrixed organizations to complete and deliver results.

  • Effective communicator and influencer: Excellent written and oral communication skills, proficient in developing excellent quality presentations and deliverables for an executive audience. Ability to indirectly influence a wide range of diverse partners and mobilize and lead cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
