The J&J Design Studio works globally across the Company’s business segments: Consumer, Pharma, Medical Device and Corporate. By utilizing the power of design, we optimize the user experience for consumers, employees, healthcare providers and patients.

Candidate Profile

In this position, you will play a significant leadership role through the development and execution of product/service designs and strategic programs. Working with Commercial partners within the pharmaceutical sector, you will be key to advance these programs and bring them to fruition.

You have a strong strategic sensibility with a deep understanding of customer- and care-centered products and services that drive innovation to deliver differentiated, holistic solutions which improve patient outcomes.

You are focused and enthusiastic – with the analytical understanding that by tackling a complicated problem you are able to transform it into a creative and significant solution. You are able to take both a bigger-picture strategic view as well as advance successful solutions delivery at the program level.

You are a self-starter and a confident leader who can represent JJD on a cross-functional team, guiding teams to deliver intelligent, people-centered solutions. You have a high level of purpose and will only deliver excellence in work quality.

Primary Responsibilities

  • You will bring expertise in both strategic thinking and solution development from early-phase strategy and user needs identification through to development, implementation and launch

  • You are a valued partner in the development and application of a customer and patient-centered design approach to be insights-led and needs-driven in the creation of holistic pharmaceutical product and service solutions

  • You’ll further identify opportunities to enhance the quality of patient and customer experiences and support the Janssen Commercial organization to best realize and incorporate these experiences

  • You will grow and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships; your strong collaborative skills will build deeply integrated plans for how Design will deliver value for both end-users and our Commercial stakeholders’ business objectives

  • You have the capability and bandwidth to manage multiple projects consecutively and successfully

  • You will work effectively within Janssen compliance practices

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, with a major in design or related field preferred

  • 10 – 12 years of design and strategic leadership-related experience is required

  • Demonstrated experience in defining and applying strategic business goals and customer experience insights to guide design strategy and execution is required

  • Capability to apply customer insights and the identification and synthesis of user needs into design opportunities is required

  • Ability to build effective, sustainable relationships with Commercial stakeholders as well as connect with R&D and Supply Chain partners as appropriate is required

  • Facility to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to support effective program execution

  • Strong visual, written, and oral communication skills are required

  • Proven and validated experience managing myriad multi-disciplinary teams and complex product and service design programs is required

  • Financial budgeting skills and proficiency is required, as well as strong strategic project and account management capabilities
