Amex Digital Labs is responsible for catalyzing digital innovation at American Express by originating, incubating, and leading emerging products and partnerships that represent significant business building opportunities both in terms of driving revenue and customer impact. We strive to emphasize creativity, customer centricity, and innovation. Focus areas include crafting industry-leading digital payment & commerce solutions, using our outstanding servicing network and lifestyle assets to build digital experiences, and defining new products and services based on emerging technologies and trends.

The UX Team at Amex Digital Labs is responsible for driving and supporting the research, copy, design, and accessibility needs for a broad range of critical initiatives across e-commerce solutions, peer-to-peer payments, generative AI, digital identity, and other emerging technologies.

Researchers at Amex help to elevate knowledge and understanding of our users across UX, product and engineering, and play a critical role in building the world's best user experience. As a UX Researcher, you'll autonomously lead research programs, working independently or collaboratively (with our vendor partners) to deliver research across the globe. A skilled research evangelizer, you have the opportunity to make a deep contribution in an area of your own specialty.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Leads research strategy and efforts in close collaboration with product and UX colleagues; Advise product team on best research methods, tools and frameworks based on product goals and expected outcomes

  • Facilitates workshops with design and product stakeholders to align on learning needs and to frame the research approach

  • Partner with our external research vendors to execute research for our product team

  • Executes research studies using a variety of methods to explore user needs, pain points, and opportunities to create more value

  • Triangulates data from multiple sources to generate insights that elevate stakeholder understanding of our users

  • Leads the creation of research artifacts that brings user needs and insights to life, and ensures insights are communicated effectively to influence product and design strategies

  • Provides support for research leadership presentations and supports presenting of research programs and new ideas to cross-functional partners and leaders

  • Implement a framework to track research efforts and outcomes; Use learnings to improve research strategy

  • Coaches and mentors product team members in the end-to-end research process; Educate team members on best practices in order to get the most out of research efforts for their products

  • Maintains compliance with data privacy and tooling standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • Has at least 5 years of hands-on experience in research

  • Proficient in using dscout and User Testing to support a variety of methods across the lifecycle

  • Proficient in using UserZoom and User Testing to support a variety of methods across the lifecycle

  • Proficient in using Qualtrics for conducting surveys and capturing CSAT

  • Demonstrates an understanding of fundamental UX research theories, principles and concepts gained through practical experience in industry or academia, on-the job training, or formal education

  • Is proactive, energetic communicator, with an impressive attention to detail in written communications (e.g., slack messages, emails, and research documents), and a clear and engaging verbal presentation style

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
