How will you make an impact in this role?
The Global Brand Sponsorships and Experiential Marketing team leads 40 partnerships globally, delivering best-in-class ticket access, live event and digital engagement platforms across Card Member and Prospect passion points of sports, music, theater and various other cultural interests. This role sits within the Global Advertising and Brand Management division, which is responsible for driving demand for American Express products and services by getting our world-class brand into the marketplace.
Your Position:
This role will be responsible for driving the strategic vision of American Express’ role in Music, Entertainment and Innovation verticals specifically tied to musical artists, touring events, festivals, cultural tastemakers and defining our opportunities with emerging tech platforms across the sponsorship portfolio. The ideal candidate has a passion for creating differentiated engagements and is excited by the opportunity to redefine what experiential marketing looks like for these industries and beyond. Additionally, this candidate will possess expertise on how American Express can navigate and leverage emerging platforms and new technology to innovate experiences across the entire Sponsorships and Experiential Marketing. This role requires travel to execute onsite programs and nurture industry partnerships (20%).
Job Responsibilities:
Drive the strategic vision of American Express’ role in Entertainment Access tied to musical artists, touring and Theater.
Spearhead musical artist partnership strategy and selection process, negotiate and execute deals.
Lead the strategy and execution of music, festival, theater activations and ticketing programs, including access and benefits for Card Members, prospect engagement programs, live activation plans, offsite/digital extensions, branding, utilization of contractual media and sponsorship assets and B2B hospitality programs
Oversee the development of a global sponsorship innovation strategy, leveraging new platforms such as gaming/esports, Web3 and other Digital Products to maximize brand consideration and stakeholder value
Support expansion of the Internal Ticketing COE remit and presence
Optimize end-to-end Entertainment Customer journey
Lead renewal strategies within the portfolio, as well as negotiations of new contracts and partnership agreements as needed, working closely with legal, Strategic Partnerships and external agency partners
Build relationships with senior level property partners to ensure strong collaboration amongst teams and mutual understanding of strategies and objectives
Oversee large scale budgets in partnership with Finance team, ensuring close understanding of internal processes and ensuring project comes in at or under budget
Develop relationships across American Express enterprise to further business and brand goals in creative ways for both business and consumer customers
Communicate regular planning updates as well as full activation plans in strategic, clear manner to American Express senior executives
Qualifications:
Experienced marketer and leader (10 years), with strong connection to the music industry, passion for experiential and digital marketing as well as new forms of technology and innovation.
Significant experience working across industry stakeholders from artists teams to promoters is required.
Expertise proposing new strategies to test & learn into new, emerging spaces including gaming, esports, web3, new technologies and more
Personal excellence in relationship building with instinctual partnership orientation, working closely with a diverse set of internal partners, industry partners and multiple creative agencies across global markets.
Exceptional people leadership skills including engagement in individual development plans and career mentorship
Proven track record in managing partners, large-scale cross-functional teams and agency partners across experiential, media, content and PR
All around strategic thinker who is well-versed in culture, analytics, consumer insights and employs a customer first mindset to all experiential plans and activations.
Strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple programs concurrently.
Proficiency in budget management and the necessary decisiveness to focus investments appropriately
Ability to manage in a strict compliance environment, with proper reverence towards operational excellence.
Experience in delivering recommendations to senior level executives; effective communicator at all levels of organizations, and comfortable with press and industry communication.
Possesses a balance of conviction to drive change with breakthrough collaboration and influence management capabilities
Proficiency building test-and-learn frameworks, building stakeholder buy-in, executing and measuring new partnerships & experiential campaigns
Prior experience in emerging platforms: gaming/esports, Web3, etc. preferred
High energy, self-starter, team-oriented, innovative, and entrepreneurial spirit

Qualifications
Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
