Description
American Express Technology is a critical Enterprise Service, serving as the backbone for all we do, from providing the underlying infrastructure of the company to building core products and services we deliver to our customers. The vision of Technology is to power American Express growth with trust and efficiency. Financial decision support is a key ingredient to enabling this vision, and the Vice President - Technology Operations & FinOps Finance will be responsible for providing this support to the Technology Operations organization. The VP will partner closely with the Technology Leadership Team to identify and execute cost optimization practices, provide financial results reporting, lead planning & forecasting for the Tech Operations budget ($2B ), and provide financial oversight and due diligence for large-scale technology strategic initiatives.
You will partner closely with Technology and Finance teams to make the following impacts:
Drive key decision support and analytics for $2B Technology Operations budget and provide end-to-end support of broader Technology initiatives
Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation to increase transparency, while strengthening governance around Technology Operations
Analyze, prepare, and communicate Results, Plans, and Outlook to Senior Leadership and Technology business partners in line with planning processes and timelines
Perform financial due diligence on complex hardware and software deals
Provide strategic thought and technical leadership in the planning and execution of large-scale Technology initiatives from ideation to implementation
Partner with the Business to evolve the Enterprise FinOps practice, providing consumption visibility of Technology Operations costs in conjunction with increased Public Cloud adoption
Perform due diligence on new M&As, specifically ensuring integration and/or divestiture needs for Technology are embedded in the up-front deal financials
Lead a team of professionals in New York and Phoenix
Support ad hoc analyses as needs arise
Build tools and capabilities to support all of the above
Qualifications:
10 years leading, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams
Experience in leading financial planning & analysis, or related function
Experience in driving transformational change – setting organizational objectives, collaborating and influencing constituents, and building and inspiring teams
Prior direct experience and active working knowledge of FinOps practices
Superior problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills, strong learning agility and willingness to embrace new challenges
Confident and clear communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence executive leaders and drive progress in decision-making
Proven track record of driving results across multiple channels and initiatives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Strong relationship leader with ability to influence and collaborate across organizational boundaries. Adept at balancing priorities and customers to manage tight deadlines
Strong working knowledge of data systems and tools is a plus.
Prior experience in or supporting technology is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or professional certification preferred

Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
