For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ Hours/Schedule_ Full-time On Site * Day shift, Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30 pm. * Coverage for plant operators occur either 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am. _ Primary Role_ Responsible for water treatment plant operations when the Plant Operator is absent and performs related duties. Performs and/or assists with repairs to and maintenance of equipment and facilities such as, but not limited to, centrifugal and positive displacement machinery, transducers, recorders, data collection devices, diesel engines, generators, chemical feed equipment, analytical measuring devices, electrical distribution equipment, piping systems, process control equipment, telemetry equipment, etc. _ Key Accountabilities_ * Performs and/or assists with repairs to and maintenance of equipment and facilities such as, but not limited to, centrifugal and positive displacement machinery, transducers, recorders, data collection devices, diesel engines, generators, chemical feed equipment, analytical measuring devices, electrical distribution equipment, piping systems, process control equipment, telemetry equipment, etc. * Performs calibration and routine maintenance of control systems including troubleshooting and diagnostics of related software and hardware. * Maintains the appearance of facilities and grounds in accord with company standards. * Prioritizes and coordinates tasks and/or activities required for the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of treatment and pumping facilities and related appurtenances. * Receives and distributes chemicals in accord with established company, state, and/or federal safety standards and/or practices. * May be assigned to perform any responsibility that lies within the capabilities of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training. * Pursues educational opportunities and professional development to enhance performance and contributions to the organization. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, computer theories, applications, and hardware configurations. * Thorough understanding of the distribution system network including, but not limited to, gradients, capacities, interconnections, mapping, service territory and facility locations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities and related appurtenances. * Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and safety practices, as well as state and federal regulations applicable to area of responsibility including, but not limited to, OSHA. _ Experience/Education_ * High School graduate or equivalent. _ Job Requirements_ * Required to pass an initial and annual OSHA medical examination. * Valid state driver's license. * PA-DEP water treatment certification required or to be obtained within 24 months (2 years) of hire. _ Competencies_ Champions safety Customer obsessed Cultivates innovation Nimble learning Drives Results Collaborates * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
