Job Description

The selected candidate will join a dynamic team in a critical role that supports the installation and testing of interior and exterior communication systems on Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) and Fleet Replenishment Oilers (T-AO) class ships. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to work on both electronic and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, providing a variety of challenging and rewarding tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize calibrated test equipment to validate interior/exterior communication systems, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and integrated systems on EPF and T-AO class ships.

  • Assemble system-level components in accordance with military and DOD standards.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings for fabrication and installation of cable assemblies, components, and system integration, ensuring adherence to specifications required for T-AO and EPF vessels.

  • Fabricate a variety of cable assemblies, including multi-conductor, coaxial, and power cables, in line with military and DOD standards.

  • Collaborate with Technicians, Quality Control, Engineering, Drafting, and Project Managers to provide feedback and resolve issues, focusing on maintaining high production quality for EPF and T-AO class ships.

  • Document defects and report to project lead for resolution, employing a structured approach to quality assurance and defect management.

  • Regular use of computers and software to record man-hours, retrieve drawings/datasheets, request parts, and document defects, ensuring precise documentation and communication across teams.

This position is located in the Charleston, SC area. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Charleston or surrounding areas.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

High school diploma and at least 6 years of related experience

Proficiency in using calibrated test equipment and interpreting technical drawings

Knowledge of military and DOD standards for the fabrication and assembly of electronic and mechanical systems

Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including Technicians, Quality Control, Engineering, Drafting, and Project Managers

Excellent documentation and defect management skills

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Experience with the installation and testing of communication systems on naval vessels, particularly EPF, T-AO, or similar classes

US Navy IT/ET with shipboard or submarine experience

Ability to set up and operate complex US Navy communications systems

Experience in shipboard communications equipment maintenance

Proven track record of maintaining high production quality and resolving technical issues in a shipyard environment

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $61830 - $105120

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
