Job Description
The Associate Director, Business Insights and Analytics, will be responsible for developing and communicating data-driven and actionable insights that drive greater customer and market understanding to inform launch & go-to market strategies and help meet in-line commercial objectives.
These insights will enhance patient and market understanding, inform intervention strategies to help with patient analytics (e.g., Persistence, Adherence, Risk Stratification, etc.), achieve health objectives, and improve patient engagement. They will help create clinical use-cases that drive 'data-driven' decisions and leverage organizational knowledge for patient relevance.
The individual in this role will be an independent contributor as well as lead a team and, together, will act as the Business Insight and Analytics Lead for the US Rare Disease marketing teams. The ideal candidate will lead an insight team consisting of functional teams across market research, data strategy, forecasting, resource effectiveness, measurement, marketing/sales operations, digital analytics, competitive insights and strategy. This person will help scope, design, and deliver well-defined projects and insights; and track value ‘at stake’ and value realized.
The preferred candidate should have intellectual curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, consultative mindset, strong understanding of healthcare & pharma marketing. The person should be able to identify the data, analytics and research needs to define, enable, and inform commercial strategies of our brand and business leaders. The selected candidate should have a good understanding of US data landscape, commercial analytics capabilities, and technology. This person should have demonstrated the ability to create structure, break down unstructured problem statements into solvable chunks, articulate what needs to be answered through new pieces of research and what needs to be addressed through secondary data driven analytics. The candidate should have Rare Disease expertise/therapeutic area knowledge.
This role will require interfacing and collaborating with many teams. The candidate should demonstrate consistently strong leadership skills. The preferred candidate should have led cross functional teams in their prior roles, demonstrated the ability to develop talent and create a strong team culture that brings the best out of everyone in the team. The person will have a growth mindset and embody a culture of continuous learning. Effective communication skills are essential for a candidate to be successful in this role.
Individuals in this role should have shown the ability to mentor, coach, and lead teams (direct line management and indirect management of individuals with a dotted reporting line). The individual will develop the next generation of leaders within HHDDA (Human Health Digital, Data & Analytics). It is critical for the candidate to create a team culture where team members are focused on ‘things that matter’, empowered to act with urgency, actively innovate and are supported through continuous learning and feedback process. The chosen candidate should be a leader that strongly believes and embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Individuals with prior experience leading high performing teams is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of consultants, contractors, data scientists and business analysts (on-shore and off-shore), providing guidance on best practices in data analytics, risk stratification modeling and data visualization
Translate business needs and priorities to build analytical plans that answer business questions by providing actionable insights. Effectively communicating advanced analytics to stakeholders to inform business decision.
Analyze data using advanced analytical/statistical techniques across disparate databases/sources (including claims/EMR Data and other sources) to develop insights drive to inform the commercial business strategies.
Collaborate across HHDDA teams (i.e. data visualization, data solutions, other data scientists, other BIA teams, etc.) to deliver best-in-class solutions to drive data driven insights often acting in consulting capacity.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in analytical methodologies to bring new ideas forward that will enhance analytic capabilities of the organization.
Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation, identifying tangible and measurable criteria
Education:
A BS (or equivalent) in Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Decision Science, Marketing, Engineering, or Public Health is required.
MBA, MS or PhD degree is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
5+ years of relevant experience delivering complex analytical projects in the pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare industry
Knowledge in mining patient medical claims/EMR data with a strategic mindset and proven record of being able to produce actionable business insights that drive positive commercial results.
Knowledge in developing both machine learning and descriptive algorithms/modeling using such languages as Python, R studio, SAS, SQL, etc.
Self-motived, proactive mindset, and ability to work independently
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Strong business acumen, with proven ability to comprehend business processes and commercial strategies in detail and translate these into detailed business standards/questions that power analytics.
Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, along with the ability to convey appropriately and confidently with colleagues from different backgrounds and seniority levels
Effective organizational and project management skills to work effectively across organization and manage capability of team of data scientists efficiently and effectively
Proven data science leveraging advanced statistical methods, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing (NLP) modeling and model evaluation is a plus.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Preferred: Prior hands-on experience working with healthcare data especially in EMR/EHR, Claims Data and various IQVIA data offerings
Rare Disease therapeutic area expertise
Work location : Upper Gwynedd, PA (role will be hybrid and chosen candidate is expected to be in the office at least 3 days/week).
