SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITES :
This position is a key contributor to the day-to-day operations of the Environmental, Health & Safety Department within IDEX, reporting into the Business Unit. Duties will include performing hazard assessments and implementation of risk elimination measures, reporting safety metrics, supporting creation and implementation of safety and environmental programs. This position promotes a positive safety culture and is responsible for safety and environmental compliance by training, auditing, and working directly with all departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in building, implementing and evaluating EH&S programs and policies.
Uses the safety management process to identify hazards and implement controls.
Supports the EH&S department by completing safety and facility related tasks during preparation and response to emergencies.
Assists with performing incident investigations.
Supports EH&S and Facilities during workplace repairs, installations or routine inspections of building systems.
Creates job/task hazard analysis.
Gathers safety information and shadows teammates’ roles to assess for risk.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on safety systems (i.e. monthly visual inspection of fire extinguishers, weekly visual inspection and operation of emergency eye wash and showers, etc.)
Assists in maintaining compliance with OSHA’s Hazard Communication standard.
Assists in implementation of developed safety programs to reduce work-related injuries.
Maintains the chemical inventory for the entire facility.
Overseas hazardous waste disposal for chemicals, which can include physical transfer of chemical waste to outside storage area.
Tracks non-hazardous and uniform hazardous materials manifests.
Acts as the emergency coordinator for hazardous waste incidents.
All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES
Working knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local EHS regulations. Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to health and safety programs.
Must possess the ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others, as well as communicate effectively with both the technical and non-technical personnel.
Demonstrated ability to concisely present complex risk findings and make recommendations verbally and in writing.
Proficient interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, active listening skills, and organizational skills.
Ability to produce clear and concise written reports.
Must have sufficient mobility to access and operate in all areas of the facility including tight, high, or enclosed spaces.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, industrial hygiene, safety, health physics, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 year of experience in environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, or occupational health fields preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to various workplace hazards, including chemicals, machinery, and noise. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential.
