IDEX Senior Electronics Engineer in Ocala, Florida

Position Summary:

  • The Senior Electronics Engineer will function in a dynamic Product Development Team and is primarily responsible to conduct and document functional, regulatory and environmental requirements for electronic products and systems. In addition, the Electronics Engineer shall coordinate and implement new product designs, Schematics, Board Layouts, BOMs, and contribute to Test Plans and test fixtures. The Senior Electronics Engineer should be well versed in Firmware development for embedded systems and communications protocols. The final application for these products are heavy truck related and are typically installed on emergency vehicles such as Fire Trucks and Ambulances.

Essential Functions:

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Systematically and methodically conduct and document requirements per developed plans for functionality, regulatory and environmental criteria and customer requirements of electronics and embedded software.

  • Systematically and methodically conduct and document required validation tests per developed plans for functionality, regulatory and environmental criteria and requirements of electronics and embedded software.

  • Trouble shoot products (hardware and embedded software) and systems to identify or narrow down the root cause of observed performance deviations.

  • Coordinate and implement test beds that allow experimental variables to be introduced to the tested products and systems.

  • Schematic Capture and Board Layout using Altium

  • Software development in C using Keil IDE.

  • Coordinate and validate the integrity of the required improvements/corrections with the product development team.

  • Establish detailed test plans to functionally validate the reliable performance of new or modified electronic products and systems. Test plans will be established with input from the product development team and the applications team, and will specify FMEA test scenarios and experimental system variables to mimic field deployed products and systems. Establish and maintain documentation for ISO, E-Mark, CE, CSA, UL and FCC certification.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent four-year technical degree. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive varied engineering experience (or MSEE with 3 years of experience) including developing electronic microcontroller based embedded systems, requirements docs, test plans, and conducting and documenting testing for electronic instrumentation.

  • Control products and systems Application experience.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to company management as well as customer staff for reporting and/or training purposes.

Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with Vehicle Multiplex hardware or software is a plus

  • Experience with JDE is a plus

  • Experience with Altium Schematic Capture and Board Layout software is a must

  • Experience with Compilers, Linkers, Locators, IDE for embedded software development is a must

Other Qualifications:

  • Application experience with testing electronic products/systems for Internal Combustion Engines, Heavy Duty Custom Trucks, and industrial pumps is a plus.

  • Experience in progressive disciplines such as Six-Sigma and 6/S is a plus.

  • Ability to work with a limited amount of supervision.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
