Lockheed Martin Experienced C++ Software Engineer with Military Simulation Background in Orlando, Florida

Description: Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems has an opportunity in Orlando, Florida for an early career Systems or Software Engineer supporting the Strategic Product Support group, specifically in a visuals application role. The visuals application systems engineer position will support computer graphics-related software development, multi-spectral terrain database imagery and models creation, and visual display systems for implementation on training simulators. This encompasses the design, development, deployment, and testing of complex visual display solutions in a real-time training environment. This is a position that carries out work assignments of limited scope and complexity using a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques in solving problems.

The experienced Software Engineer will

- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (design, development, and test)

- Leverage our software engineering processes and procedures while performing their respective software engineering and verification activities.

- Support risk assessments and risk mitigation plans, including balancing technical risks between systems

- Manage key aspects of the technical implementation of the program, by collaborating across a number of disciplines to ensure that technical parameters, interfaces, and assumptions are consistent across disciplines, and interfacing with stakeholders (e.g., engineering, technical staff, client) to ensure program goals are met

- Understand and adhere to program cost and schedule targets, make targeted modifications to existing software baselines as well as develop new components and subsystems as requirements dictate

The successful candidate will be flexible, motivated, dedicated, detail-focused, team-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking. Positions are located in East Orlando, FL at the Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Lake Underhill Facility. Keeping up-to-date on emerging technologies and tools will be encouraged.

Basic Qualifications:

The selected candidate will be developing simulation & training software using C++ in Unreal Engine.

• Develop physics based simulation models of platforms (land, sea, air, ground, etc.) in C++

• Integration of existing physics based simulation models in C++

• Develop AI/behavior models in C++

Desired Skills:

Required Skills

• 7+ years strong C++ experience

• Firm understanding of software engineering fundamentals (software design, architecture, design patterns, algorithmic complexity, automated testing), with ability to design/implement software systems from requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in git/GitLab

• Strong professional knowledge in Windows/Linux and Visual Studio development environment

• Ability to learn Unreal Engine

• Expertise working with real-world coordinate systems (ex: Geographic (WGS84) and Cartesian (ECEF))

• Experience integrating distributed simulations and familiarity with interoperability standards (DIS, HLA, etc.)

Preferred Skills

• 2-3 years working on simulation/training programs/products

• Data-oriented design and implementation is a strong plus

• Vehicle dynamics / flight dynamics modeling is a strong plus

• Experience writing Graphics shaders is a plus

• NodeJS, WebSockets, Flatbuffer
